  • Vision, Strategy & Tactics

I’m very always appreciated Michael Albert’s focus on what to do about our collective political, educational, economic, cultural, and ecological problems as opposed to a constant documentation of the various issues we face as a society and species. ZNetwork and ZMagazine truly stand out compared to other left-wing websites, publications and platforms. Thanks for the great work, Mr. Albert!

  • Michael Albert is probably one of the clearest, most enlightening communicators of the Left today. His lifelong commitment and passion for making the world a better place are truly inspiring. This podcast is one of the most pedagogical presentations of parecon available in any media. The episodes in the more recent ruminations series are delightful. I wish I had found his works earlier in life. I am deeply thankful for his work as a whole and for this podcast in particular.

  • Beacon of light in the dark

I stumbled upon this podcast initially from listening to Michael's debate with destiny the streamer. I was stunned by the sharpness and vividness of Michael's vision, something that is greatly lacking on the left. Wanting to hear more from Michael I found this podcast and started listening to it from the beginning. I'm up to eps 100 now and I love it still.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep 391 Vincent Emanuele on the Data Center Resistance and Organizing
Q: Why is democratic control over technology important, and what should activists do about data centers?
He argues for democratic decision-making in technology use, slow-down of proliferation to build institutions, and strategic, inclusive organizing that crosses political boundaries to empower ordinary people to shape outcomes.
Ep 391 Vincent Emanuele on the Data Center Resistance and Organizing
Q: To start, what the fuck is a data center and why should anyone care about them?
Vincent explains that data centers are gigantic facilities that store and process data for streaming, social media, and increasingly AI, and notes that they consume substantial natural resources and drive up electricity costs, which has sparked broad local opposition.
EP 387 Farah Mokhtareizadeh: Tankies, Campism, and Beyond
Q: What exactly is campism, and why does it appeal to some movements?
Campism is a way of organizing political solidarity around geopolitical positioning rather than the actual conditions people face; it appeals because it frames opposition to US power as a unifying criterion, but it often ignores how those movements treat their own working classes and dissidents.
Ep 386 WCF Planting Seeds of the Future Plus A Mayday Message
Q: What were the biggest health industry problems to overcome?
The main battles were against owners prioritizing profits, and then against professionals and doctors who resisted redistribution of power; progress required time, education, and a trajectory toward balance in labor.
Ep 386 WCF Planting Seeds of the Future Plus A Mayday Message
Q: How did planting seeds play out in the realm of the internet and social media?
The internet offered rapid mobilization and access to ideas but also exposed people to garbage and clickbait; the challenge was leveraging the positive potential while resisting the enticements of the attention economy.
