  • It’s the production for me

Something about how Vox produces their shows feels hectic. I’m a middle millennial, so maybe this style is geared to younger populations, but I don’t need constant sound effects, cut-ins, or super fast-talkers to stay engaged in topics that already matter. I followed Astead here, but even the production of his show is less enjoyable to me than his former pod.

  • Fact checking?

The podcast is news entertainment; heavy on the entertainment. Sometimes episodes have contained misleading information from the person being interviewed. The tone is usually great, but I am often careful about fully believing all of the information. Examples that show the scope of the falsehoods are two episodes referring to NAD+ as a peptide, the Mexican election (history of the current party in power), and the episode on mormonism (conspicuously not mentioning the history of racism and consta... more

  • Re raw milk

As a feller that grew up on a small farm; I’m on the pro raw milk platform. A small dairy herd is gonna have antibodies specific to the local pathogens etc etc etc… that’s why this farm kids rarely got sick. The rest is just good animal husbandry and a bit of courage and imagination from consumers. Good luck with that.

The Ferrari of electric vehicles
Q: Is the slate truck a viable strategy to bring EVs to more Americans?
Yes, by stripping away nonessential features and aiming for a price under $30,000, Slate hopes to appeal to cost-conscious buyers, though skepticism remains about consumer demand for such a utilitarian approach.
The Ferrari of electric vehicles
Q: What do you think about Ferrari's approach to the Luce compared to traditional Ferraris?
The interior design and the blend of digital and analog controls were seen as intriguing, but the exterior diverges so much from classic Ferrari that some viewers felt it detracted from the brand's heritage, raising questions about the trade-off between innovation and tradition.
Can corruption drive voter turnout?
Q: How does the court's decision to strike down the map affect volunteers and candidates on the ground?
It created a morale blow and forced a reevaluation of campaign plans, but also reinforced the urgency to engage voters and defend the democratic process.
Can corruption drive voter turnout?
Q: What has the last year and a half been like for someone working in this district around gerrymandering?
A shift from a consensus stance against gerrymandering to a strategic, sometimes pragmatic approach in advocating for maps that are fair while also trying to elect representatives who can defend democracy in practice.
AI goes IPO
Q: Have you taken a look at any of these books yet?
Yes, and the discussion suggests that SpaceX's governance and the broader IPO trend raise questions about profitability, safety, and accountability in a market-driven IPO environment.
