  • It’s the production for me

Something about how Vox produces their shows feels hectic. I’m a middle millennial, so maybe this style is geared to younger populations, but I don’t need constant sound effects, cut-ins, or super fast-talkers to stay engaged in topics that already matter. I followed Astead here, but even the production of his show is less enjoyable to me than his former pod.

  • Fact checking?

The podcast is news entertainment; heavy on the entertainment. Sometimes episodes have contained misleading information from the person being interviewed. The tone is usually great, but I am often careful about fully believing all of the information. Examples that show the scope of the falsehoods are two episodes referring to NAD+ as a peptide, the Mexican election (history of the current party in power), and the episode on mormonism (conspicuously not mentioning the history of racism and consta... more

  • Re raw milk

As a feller that grew up on a small farm; I’m on the pro raw milk platform. A small dairy herd is gonna have antibodies specific to the local pathogens etc etc etc… that’s why this farm kids rarely got sick. The rest is just good animal husbandry and a bit of courage and imagination from consumers. Good luck with that.

North Korea's girl dad dictator
Q: All right, so tell me about what this looks like on the ground. Let's say I'm in the capital, Pyongyang, and I'm looking around what might I see there that I wouldn't have seen five years ago?
Tim Martin explains that the ground reality includes more noise from construction and traffic, visible smartphones, and new Chinese EVs, indicating a noticeable but uneven modernization and about-face from the previous image of stagnation.
How Trump lost the bro vote
Q: If you had one issue you would want politicians to focus on, what would it be?
Gas prices are repeatedly highlighted as a top concern, with attendees attributing some economic pain to policy choices and seeking direct impact on daily life.

Why the Antichrist is back
Q: What is the Antichrist exactly according to scholarly perspectives?
Scholars explain that the Antichrist is not a single expected individual but a broader spirit or movement that challenges traditional worship and aligns with apocalyptic prophecies, with historical identifications of potential figures serving more as allegories or reflections of social fears than precise predictions.
