Always interesting to listen to topics that you can wrap your head around. I’m listening to the one on cheating. It’s funny, I think that the word cheating is pretty powerful. It used to be called “playing away from home” or “stepping out” on the other. It’s funny how the words used these days are more volatile. We now seem to live in a world of hyperbole.

My only question is why the L word doesn’t come up in these convos? It’s an amazing show and there is lots of sex. Maybe people will say it’s messier -which might be because the societal bs is still on the shoulders of women.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

DIY or don’t?
Q: What are some things every person should have at home?
Pam lists essential tools like a Phillips and flathead screwdriver, channel locks, a five-in-one tool, a drill, and a battery-powered drill to start building a basic, safe toolkit.
DIY or don’t?
Q: Does it feel very different from sort of how people approach it here in the US?
Pam notes that outside the US, people are generally more hand-on and ingrained with trades, while in the US there is a mix of reliance on professionals and a growing DIY mindset, especially among younger people.
Burnout sandwich
Q: What was it like just sort of trying to balance like, okay, my mom needs me, but also I'm a mom and my kid needs me?
The guest describes juggling multiple caregiving roles, recognizing that you can't do everything, and the need to outsource or share responsibilities while safeguarding personal energy.
How to fight burnout
Q: Is there anything you'd recommend not doing when you're burned out?
Avoid pushing through when capacity is exceeded; instead, acknowledge limits and seek support, and consider practical boundary-setting like not taking on too much at once or pushing back on unreasonable demands.
Can someone explain these prices?
Q: Why do gasoline prices jump so quickly when oil prices rise?
Because refiners and retailers adjust based on the expected cost of future supply and the global dynamics of crude, leading to rapid price increases at the pump, followed by slower declines as inventories in place influence pricing.
