  • At gun point

JD is holding a gun to my head and making me give this 5 stars and write a review. I don't feel like I'm in any real danger, because I don't think JD is smart enough to work a handgun. However, I just want to get this over with, so I don't have to smell him anymore.

Talking Points

Josh Itzoe on Retireholics
Q: How do you see the Roth catch-up regulation affecting a typical plan sponsor's year-to-year decisions?
Plan sponsors need to implement Roth catch-ups in 2026 and prepare for tight compliance in 2027, while not delaying features that could erode benefits; there's emphasis on not misinterpreting extensions and ensuring proper tax reporting.
Retireholics - ”You Don’t Own The Alphabet!”
Q: Do you think data should flow freely between plan sponsors, advisers, and providers?
Data should flow where it adds value and improves outcomes for participants, but must respect consent, privacy, and contractual boundaries; the goal is to enable better education and better decisions, not indiscriminate data sharing.
Retireholics - ”You Don’t Own The Alphabet!”
Q: What is your read on the Department of Labor's approach to pooled employer plans and conflicts of interest?
There is skepticism about blanket approvals or assuming pooled plans will be cheaper; the focus should be on transparency, prudent governance, and ensuring any disclosures or conflicts are clearly managed, with a recognition that costs may be higher in some cases to ensure proper fiduciary oversight.
Retireholics - Guest: Stephen Daigle
Q: What is the core business model you described for Capitalize and how does it fit into the 401(k) ecosystem?
The guests discuss Capitalize as a technology-driven approach to streamline advisor-led rollovers and client onboarding, framed as enhancing the front-end workflow for advisors within a marketplace-like ecosystem.
