  • A top recomendation

I have been following this podcast from the start. Jason’s relaxed easy going style and willingness to dig into the why of a topic is just one of the values you can get out of this podcast. So much is learned from the tangents, that often occur, while talking with guest that those side-tracks are icing on the cake. I find myself sharing links to many of the episodes with my team since the topics are so pertinent to current development ideals.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

266 - Hotwire Native with Joe Masilotti
Q: How did you manage writing your book while balancing other work?
I've been self-employed for about six or seven years, so I have the flexibility to work on my book in my own time, though balancing that with a growing family has been challenging.
266 - Hotwire Native with Joe Masilotti
Q: Can you tell us what this topic is all about?
Hotwire Native is a way to take your existing or new Rails website and kind of shove it in a mobile app. It works with a WebView and allows access to Swift and Kotlin Native APIs, providing a way to have a mobile presence with minimal native development.
265 - Software Design with Paul Hammond
Q: What was your experience with TDD at BBC?
At the BBC, I learned TDD by working closely with a colleague, which greatly improved my understanding of testing based on behavior rather than strict unit testing.
265 - Software Design with Paul Hammond
Q: What does abstraction and programming mean to you?
Abstraction involves the level of detail found in a programming task and helps capture business requirements.
264 - Dan Moore, Principal Product Engineer at FusionAuth
Q: How do you develop that intuition around like, hey, is this test worth writing or not?
If it's a low cost test, I just write it, because I won't skip a low cost test, only skip a high cost test. Those other factors, like will it fail silently, are crucial in decision-making.
