  • Love this guys!

Chris, Andrew and Jason are the best ruby friends you never actually meet. They will bring a smile to your face for sure. Oh they also talk about interesting code challenges and technologies that may or may not be related to Laravel. My favorite episodes are the ones where they interview people, Jason comes up with great questions every time. I try to listen to them every week.

  • 5 minutes of nothing

Whenever I get this podcast recommendation online I really want to listen to it. The episodes’ titles are appealing and seem interesting. But I can’t get past the ~5 min of ranting about something completely unrelated to the reason I pressed play. It turns me off. Have you ever entered a room where it’s full of strangers talking about something you can’t relate or have no interest on? That’s how I feel whenever I attempt to give it a listen. If they could edit so that it’s part 1) the meat of th... more

LiveComponent with Cameron Dutro
Q: Can you give a concrete use case where LiveComponent is a better fit than TurboStreams and Stimulus?
A good use case is when a server-rendered form needs in-place, component-scoped validation messaging and dynamic state across multiple nested subcomponents without the overhead of wiring up Turbo Frames and IDs across the page. LiveComponent can re-render just the affected component in response to server-side validation, keeping the rest of the page static.
Bridge Components, Swift UI and more with Joe Masilotti
Q: Tell me about your Hotwire Native for SwiftUI.
Hotwire Native for SwiftUI allows developers to build using SwiftUI while leveraging underlying UI kit functionality.
Bridge Components, Swift UI and more with Joe Masilotti
Q: What has kind of been the struggle or the development process like?
The development process has changed dramatically, originally extracted from previous client work.
Kevin Newton on Ruby & Python, Prism, Psych-Pure, and Exreg
Q: Can you explain the global interpreter lock and its implications?
The global interpreter lock (GIL) ensures that only one thread executes Ruby code at a time to avoid concurrency issues, which has significant implications for performance in multithreaded applications.
Joined by David Hill
Q: How did you stumble into Ruby development?
I started in programming through my father, who was a programmer, and I later majored in computer science before transitioning to Ruby on Rails unexpectedly at my first job.
