  • Just what I needed today!

I was feeling despair from our current political situation when I listened to the Eva Witeman episode and now I see our situation as an opportunity to build Zion. My favorite quote was “If we build it, He will come.” Don’t run from conflict, look for it and find common ground on the very issue you disagree on.❤️❤️❤️

Reconciling Old Testament Divine Violence and a Peaceful Christ with Terryl Givens
Q: How can readers maintain fidelity to scripture while acknowledging its difficult parts?
Terryl emphasizes reading in a triangulation between scripture, prophetic voice, and personal witness, with the Spirit as the ultimate source of truth rather than Scripture alone, to guide a faithful, peace-oriented reading.
Reconciling Old Testament Divine Violence and a Peaceful Christ with Terryl Givens
Q: What historical or theological pathways help readers avoid weaponizing scripture in modern conflicts?
He highlights the Marcionite crisis, Tertullian's and Origen's responses, and the shift toward Christocentric interpretation as a way to read scripture responsibly, ensuring the text informs peace rather than violence.
Reconciling Old Testament Divine Violence and a Peaceful Christ with Terryl Givens
Q: How do you experience violence in the Old Testament, and how do you make sense of it personally?
Givens frames the OT violence within the broader Christian witness that God's core nature is love, and suggests that early Christian and Jewish interpretations progressively moved toward allegorical or Christ-centered readings to preserve the message of mercy.
Enoch's Lessons on Peacemaking in Zion with Melaney Tagg
Q: How do you approach the concept of one heart and one mind without demanding sameness?
One heart and one mind means unity in process and mutual regard, where people see each other's divinity, listen deeply, and stay committed to respectful engagement even when beliefs diverge.
Enoch's Lessons on Peacemaking in Zion with Melaney Tagg
Q: What can you tell us about The Venn Diagram Project and how it works in practice?
The Venn Diagram Project brings people on opposing sides of polarized issues together to find common ground, first through formal dialogue and then by sharing constructive results that help communities move toward Zion-like peace.
