  • Listening to a Man explain that women are “complex creatures”

I was looking for a new podcast and started with the episode of symptoms in the first 20 weeks.

Middle of the episode, a male doctor is saying “women are very complex creatures. And when you put them in situations where they don’t feel well….”. Complex creatures? Shove off. You try being pregnant.

  • Great resource!

I really enjoy listening to this podcast, however I do prefer the boob group podcast they do. I imagine this is because, while I am American, I live in the UK and would love a slightly more international approach to these subjects. I would love to recommend these podcasts to friends here but I think many are inapplicable to UK medical care. For example, the hospital bag episode would be much different in the UK, as with socialized health care we are told to bring our own diapers, blankets, mater... more

  • Waste of time

Yak yak yak. A lot of talking without saying anything of value. I tried 2 episodes, one on the Bradley Method and another on a different birthing method, I cannot remember the name…They were basically advertisements for the methods without actually explaining how to do them.

I like the topics covered and the friendly hosts. But hate the stupid child reading a disclaimer at the end of the episode. Very infantilising!

Also there are so many ads. Skip to 9-10 mins in for actual content.

Ultrasounds During Pregnancy: What to Expect
Q: What is the difference between 2D, 3D, and 4D ultrasounds, and are there medical reasons to use 3D or 4D?
2D is the traditional flat image; 3D renders three-dimensional images of the fetus, particularly useful for visualizing facial features or diagnosing certain abnormalities, and 4D is 3D in real time. There are medical reasons to use 3D/4D in some centers, such as evaluating spine or facial anomalies, not increasing energy exposure compared to 2D.
Ultrasounds During Pregnancy: What to Expect
Q: What typically happens during an ultrasound appointment for a pregnancy?
The provider explains the type of ultrasound, verifies the due date, has the patient lie on a scanning bed with appropriate positioning, applies warm gel, and conducts measurements and imaging to assess the fetus and surrounding structures.
Ultrasounds During Pregnancy: What to Expect
Q: So, okay, so if we're talking about the basics of ultrasounds here, let's just talk about definitions. What exactly is an ultrasound?
Ultrasound is a diagnostic method using high-frequency sound waves that bounce off tissues to create images, with the term 'sonogram' referring to the image itself and 'sonographer' to the person performing the ultrasound.
Creating a Successful Birth Plan
Q: Why is it recommended to keep a birth plan to one page?
A one-page plan is easier for healthcare staff to read and follow, reducing the chance of it being overlooked while still guiding decisions that prioritize the baby's safety.
Creating a Successful Birth Plan
Q: What is the main purpose of a birth plan?
The main purpose is to educate moms about their options so they can make informed birth choices, rather than being driven only by what others did or what a single provider offers.
