  • Freezing time episode

Listening to Katie’s story hit so personal for me. I’m 40 and just finished my 1st cycle of egg freezing with 1 viable egg. I felt so dejected at first but had to be reminded 1 is better than none. All the emotions you mentioned in your story, I felt this to my bone! I’m learning to allow my body grace and to be patient. I’m looking to do another cycle, but until then, I’m proud of my 1 frozen egg ♥️

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Fertility Q&A: Prenatal Vitamins, IVF Labs, Pregnancy Spacing & More
Q: Is sucralose bad when TTC or pregnant?
Non-nutritive sweeteners like sucralose are best used in moderation; research suggests a potential association with lower fertility when used in higher quartiles, and the goal is to limit frequent, high-usage intake rather than eliminate completely.
Fertility Q&A: Prenatal Vitamins, IVF Labs, Pregnancy Spacing & More
Q: When is choline recommended, and is the 450-milligram amount based on elemental choline or total weight?
We clarify that the milligram amount on the bottle is essentially the target for elemental choline, assuming some dietary intake; the 450 mg is the minimum in prenatal vitamins, and attention should be paid to labeling rather than attempting to convert weight to total content.
Fertility Q&A: Miscarriage, Low AMH, PCOS & More
Q: Is the elevated LH:FSH ratio indicative of possible PCOS or just a normal variation around ovulation?
Hormone levels must be interpreted in cycle context; a baseline LH:FSH imbalance can suggest PCOS, but timing matters a lot. On cycle day 3, values should be low and similar; if you're near ovulation, LH can spike, skewing the ratio and making it unreliable as a diagnostic sole measure.
Fertility Q&A: OHSS, Short Luteal Phase, Pregnancy Timing & More
Q: What are some basic questions or tests a patient could bring up to their OB or fertility clinic about short luteal phase or irregular cycles?
Consider asking about prolactin and thyroid testing, AMH levels, potential pituitary issues, and whether a saline sonogram is needed to assess uterine healing; discuss whether hypothalamic dysfunction might be contributing due to energy balance, sleep, and stress, and request a personalized plan that considers current symptoms, prior cycles, and test results.
Fertility Q&A - Male Fertility, Long Periods, FET, and More
Q: What could be the cause for a period that lasts eight days or more, and can this affect fertility?
Long periods can be caused by a longer cycle pattern, abnormal thyroid, polyps or fibroids, and chronic endometritis, all of which should be evaluated.
