  • Missing episodes!!

I just found this podcast and am super excited to have new insight for my ttc journey, but almost every time I go to the show page it shows NO EPISODES! There’s nothing at all! Even though a few times it has let me see the episode list and I know there are over 540 episodes. This app keeps removing all of the episodes every other time I open the app. I can’t listen to them or save them or anything. I tried contacting apple podcasts about this but I haven’t heard anything! Please fix your show so... more

  • What an amazing podcast.

I found this podcast when I went searching for information on menstrual cycles during the post partum period. After hitting the year mark of my daughter being born, I still didn’t have my cycle back and I couldn’t find any information on when I could expect it to return. But I certainly wanted to know some things to look out for so we didn’t get pregnant again just yet. Then I stumbled upon Fertility Friday. And man, what a mountain of amazing information. And her book! I tell all women about it... more

  • Not worth the risk

Some of it is good. Some of it is very poorly researched. This goes for Lisa Hendrickson Jack’s book as well. There are studies cited but they are a small sample size, poorly conducted or misused in the text. Lisa is clearly very anti the Pill and that’s a valid position to take. Just back it up with decent science rather than turning yourself in knots to support your own biases. I write in the areas of FAM and fertility and I don’t recommend Lisa’s work without caveats anymore. It’s really a sh... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

FFP 623 | Cycle Charting as Primary Care: A Midwife's Perspective | FAMM Practitioner Series | Harriet Thorn
Q: Do you teach postpartum charting, and how do you see charting fitting into postpartum care?
Harriet agrees postpartum charting can be possible with adaptations and emphasizes that it can be offered to women who are interested, not as a universal requirement, with careful assessment of breastfeeding status and individual circumstances.
FFP 623 | Cycle Charting as Primary Care: A Midwife's Perspective | FAMM Practitioner Series | Harriet Thorn
Q: What has changed in your practice since engaging with the FAMM program, and how have you integrated fertility awareness into client work?
She highlights the structure and intake process from FAMM, the ability to track problems over multiple sessions, and incorporating nutrition, online care, and a more flexible pricing model while maintaining patient-centered care.
FFP 623 | Cycle Charting as Primary Care: A Midwife's Perspective | FAMM Practitioner Series | Harriet Thorn
Q: Let us know a little bit about when you had your first period and how those early menstrual years were for you, and what led you to midwifery and fertility awareness.
Harriet describes starting her period at 15 with heavy bleeding and significant pain, initial attempts with hormonal contraception, and how personal health challenges and a PhD journey steered her toward midwifery and later charting as a core tool in her practice.
FFP 621 | 30+ Years: Taking Charge of Your Fertility with Toni Weschler
Q: What motivates the development of Cyclicity and how does it relate to the book?
The app was conceived as a perfect companion to the book, using the same terminology and guiding users to the corresponding pages. It emphasizes education over prediction, avoids algorithms, and is designed to help users learn the method in a structured way while keeping the book as the manual and the core source of truth.
FFP 621 | 30+ Years: Taking Charge of Your Fertility with Toni Weschler
Q: How did Taking Charge of Your Fertility come to be, and what were the early publishing challenges?
Toni explains that she initially faced humiliation and resistance when introducing fertility awareness concepts to doctors and publishers, fighting to preserve the integrity of the method and the book's mission. She conducted live demonstrations, faced 'a week from hell' during proposal pitches, and ultimately chose publishers who understood the goal of a broader healthcare revolution rather than a small, pregnancy-focused book.
