Alright, so I’m just going to add to this because I’m senile. I’ve been waiting for this trailblazer episode since you all teased it (best logo in basketball, btw - did you all know that there are 10 streaks, red and black to represent the home and away team? OKC? Lazy). So what I’m adding is that I really appreciate the deep dive into the blazers. It was a great interview and god willing, Portland keeps their team.

I found this podcast a few months ago because I love college football. And I love the insight. It’s the best and I’d listen to all episodes but they have put on a subscription plan. They took on the model of financial assistance - “pay me for our newsletter” … and I get it. I do. My thing is, I’d love to see them grow before they’re confident enough to start the subscriptions. I’ve seen this show. But good luck. And I mean that.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Can college football learn from the 2026 World Cup?
Q: Has the World Cup expansion proven that broader access can create compelling, marketable narratives?
Yes, because expanding the field brings in underrepresented teams and stories that become the backbone of a more engaging tournament, even if it causes discomfort among traditional powerhouses.
Where is the SEC Turkey Tape?
Q: What made Robbie Caldwell's appearance at SEC Media Days so memorable?
His off-the-cuff anecdotes about working on a turkey farm and inseminating turkeys stood out in a room that usually focused on football X's and O's, turning a routine media session into a cultural moment that people still discuss years later.
Will sports ever grow bigger than we actually want them to be?
Q: Is there a breaking point where more sports cause fans to tune out?
While some fans welcome more content, many fear overload; the discussion stresses that entertainment value, accessibility, and price barriers will determine whether fans resist or embrace further expansion.
Will sports ever grow bigger than we actually want them to be?
Q: Can you give examples of outliers where expansion did not ruin the product, like in golf or tennis?
Golf's two-tier system and selective top-tier events are used as examples where fewer, but higher-profile tournaments may sustain quality better than broad expansion, suggesting selective consolidation can work.
Will sports ever grow bigger than we actually want them to be?
Q: How do we feel about the fact that all sports are expanding in every way possible?
The panel notes that expansion brings more access and revenue but also raises concerns about dilution of quality and listener fatigue; the balance hinges on preserving scarcity and meaning in marquee events.
