  • Thank you!

    Hi Cover 3,

Just wanted to say you guys do an awesome job of keeping the shows interactive, rather than just a pre-scripted stream of everyone’s opinions going around in endless circles. Please keep the book club section going.

I have a two part question for Danny. I’m retired military and went through Bootcamp and Officer Candidate School, where incentive training (physically exhausting conditioning exercises) are used to “fix” issues and instill discipline. If schools could get rid of the le... more

  • Mailbag question

How was the big 12 so much more successful in their pushback against Texas Tech and Sorsby when compared to the NCAA. I have some ideas, but I don’t want to lead the witness.

  • Best CFP Pod - Mailbag!

Informative, energetic, and entertaining. Bonus points for never hosting a current officeholder as a guest on the show.

Question — How do you guys (or CFB media in general) get reliable intel about the true cost of teams’ rosters?

Seems like a weird gray area bc you hear media members cite dollar figures with relative certainty, but nothing is officially documented or self-reported. Thanks and We Are.

  • Best Pod out there (mailbag)

Cover 3 is a great podcast and the only one I listen to daily whether it’s when I’m working out, driving, or spending time relaxing at home. Each host brings a unique and differing viewpoint to the conversation and all have great stories.

Question: at the end of 2022, Oregon State finished 9-3 and was ranked 14th in the final CFP rankings (with Oregon being ranked below us). Obviously the next few years were not kind to either OSU or WSU. What does Cover 3 believe is the future of these two sch... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

EARLY 2026 PITT SEASON PREVIEW | Cover 3 Summer School
Q: What are the biggest questions surrounding Pitt's roster beyond the QB position?
The receiver group and the defensive line are key areas; the team added a transfer at tackle and stuck with returning linemen, but there's concern about replacing top receivers and generating pressure without a consistent edge presence.
EARLY 2026 PITT SEASON PREVIEW | Cover 3 Summer School
Q: Where do you think Mason Heintschel could take a step this year?
Heintschel showed promise as a true freshman and, with more comfort in the offense and better recognition of defensive looks, could elevate the offense by making consistently smart seven-yard plays and tightening decision-making under pressure.
EARLY 2026 WEST VIRGINIA SEASON PREVIEW | Cover 3 Summer School
Q: Is there a young player who could push the current starter for the quarterback or running back roles?
Yes, there are several young players and transfers like Hawkins who could challenge for a larger role; the coaching staff is open to multiple quarterbacks and a running back by committee until someone separates themselves.
EARLY 2026 WEST VIRGINIA SEASON PREVIEW | Cover 3 Summer School
Q: What did they actually accomplish in year one under Rich Rodriguez, and where are the biggest remaining gaps?
They were 4-8, scrambled to fix the offensive line, replaced quarterbacks, and brought in a new wave of talent through the portal; the big remaining questions are whether the newcomers can adapt quickly enough and if the offense can sustain scoring while the defense stabilizes.

Q: What's your favorite logo helmet in the sport?
The hosts diverge, with Danny favoring Florida State's Seminoles with the spear motif, while Tom appreciates Michigan's unique look; they also discuss historical helmets with humorous anecdotes about past equipment and the evolution of symbols.
