  • Ebbs and flows

During the race season the podcast is really good. Off season it seems like Rossi doesn’t want to be there and Tim ends up talking more which no one wants.

  • Always enjoyable

An always interesting racing / travel / lifestyle podcast.

The insights that Alex and James bring frequently help explain or define what’s going on in the sport of motor racing for the fans.

And the recent interviews with Mark Miles and then Dan Towriss (and Colton and Will) were great:?both entertaining and informative.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ilmor's Andy Gryczan
Q: What is Ilmore's role in IndyCar, and how is Ilmore different and the same as GM and Chevrolet in the IndyCar space?
Ilmore acts as the contract specialty house for engine development and support across Chevy-powered teams, working closely with GM on simulation, software, and calibration while being distinct from GM's broader chassis and aero resources; the collaboration ensures engine performance and reliability across the field.
Palou
Q: How do you balance competing in IMSA as the 'bonus driver' with your IndyCar program?
Palou discusses the challenge of staying prepared when split across disciplines, noting the learning curve in traffic, tire management, and track knowledge, and highlighting how IMSA experience can sharpen traffic handling and adapting driving style for different corners, which can benefit IndyCar performance in the long run.
Palou
Q: Walk us through the Phoenix incident and how your race was going before the DNF?
Palou explains it was a tough weekend with the car not feeling as tested, and describes the incident as a racing miscalculation where he didn't realize the other car was so close, leading to an on-track clash and a DNF, emphasizing the speed and chaos of oval racing and the importance of understanding car balance and spotter input in those moments.
Mick Schumacher
Q: What motivated you to pursue IndyCar after years in Europe and F1?
Mick explains that after seeing opportunities and a strong, hands-on team environment, he was drawn to IndyCar's raw racing and competitive weekends, and he wanted to experience a championship that emphasized the driving experience and capacity to learn and adapt quickly.
Timing or Talent
Q: Is timing or talent more important in motorsport?
Timing is more important to break through that barrier, but underlying pace and talent are crucial for sustainability once at the top.
