Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 54: Michael Blanco
Q: What advice would you give to other branches facing similar pressures?
Be transparent with members, document everything, build rapport with management at the lowest level, and don't hesitate to escalate when contractual rights are being violated, to protect the whole membership.
Episode 54: Michael Blanco
Q: What are some of the biggest challenges you face as president?
Managing relationships with postmasters who turnover often, keeping grievances and Article 10 processes fair and thorough, and sustaining morale among a large, geographically dispersed membership while facing political and financial pressures on the Postal Service.
Episode 31: Lino Miranda “fighting for what’s right” takes a Comfort Stop
Q: Why do you think your local union isn't filing grievances effectively?
They seem to lack the commitment to truly enforcing the contract and protecting worker rights, possibly due to management's influence.
Episode 31: Lino Miranda “fighting for what’s right” takes a Comfort Stop
Q: What made you become a steward?
I started noticing how people who did their jobs were often squeezed for more, so I opened up the manuals and began advocating for better treatment.
