  • Loved the episode with Ayana!

I just finished listening to an episode interviewing Ayana Major Bey and I absolutely loved it! From the wedding crashing story, to the discussion of theater and performance as craft (I have a PhD in Theater so I could listen to this topic ALL DAY LONG), to contemplating grad school, and even the importance of mentorship. Amazing! I look forward to tuning into more episodes.

Your Calm Calendar: Rest, Burnout Recovery, and Resisting Hustle Culture with Nicole Havelka
Q: So you describe yourself as a recovering grind culture addict. what does that mean and how did you realize you needed to change the way you were living and working?
Nicole explains early life pressures to prove value through work, the shift from ministry into burnout coaching, and recognizing that time and energy must be managed with rest as a priority, not an afterthought.
Why Welcoming Everyone Gets Complicated with Garland Fuller
Q: How do you define a 'third space' and why is it important for communities to have them?
A third space is a place not home or work where people can connect, converse, learn, and feel a sense of belonging. It's important because these spaces cultivate belonging and cross-pollination of ideas, not just function, so programming, people, and space must align with the community's needs.
Joe Schupbach: Care Is the Curriculum
Q: What does it take to support teachers and schools effectively today?
Understand the local needs, engage those closest to the problem, and foster genuine dialogue with teachers and leaders to co-create practical solutions that honor relationship-building and experiential learning.
Joe Schupbach: Care Is the Curriculum
Q: What drew you into leadership roles in education and the arts?
It started accidentally after college as a teaching artist; I moved into leading teams, directing, and eventually organizational leadership because I wanted to shape conditions that were positive, playful, and safe for creativity.
Joe Schupbach: Care Is the Curriculum
Q: So Joe, what kind of relationship do you have to Valentine's Day?
I'm pro-Valentine's Day in general and enjoy the fanfare, but I value it more as a celebration of friendship and community rather than romance.
