  • Normally a great show

This is normally an absolutely great show. There has been the occasional “controversial” episode now and then, and that’s fine. Episode 279 is the episode that has caused me to speak up, and probably stop listening. In this episode you are propagating the mental illness that is “trans”. Propping up their delusions and propagating this so called professor’s existence. I cannot listen to this actual insanity anymore.

  • This episode is OK, but is mostly tangent rather than subject.

Also to answer a question on the episode, they probably used nails to make Naglfar as there was an idea that finger and toe nails kept growing after death, so it would have been the only thing they really had to use down there.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep 307 - Earth Wounds with Kevin Alexandrowicz & Devon Rawlings
Q: If you could go back to the Viking Age, what is one thing you would want to know or learn about from that era?
They explored topics ranging from menstrual practices and daily life to the practicalities of burial rites, but also highlighted the broader curiosity about how people experienced death and ritual, and what kind of everyday knowledge could be learned from that period.
Ep 308 - Historical Tattoos with Obban & Ruben Terlouw
Q: How do colors fit into Viking-era art, given limited pigments?
They discuss the likelihood of color use as possible for some pieces, with caveats about the uncertainty of exact colors; color is considered as a design element rather than a definite historical practice.
Ep 308 - Historical Tattoos with Obban & Ruben Terlouw
Q: What is the practical approach to combining historical accuracy with modern tattooing?
Obban explains they adhere to strict knotwork rules and use Gotland motifs, while Ruben provides historical references and rare sources to guide design, merging archaeology with contemporary tattooing.
Ep 308 - Historical Tattoos with Obban & Ruben Terlouw
Q: Do you think Vikings were tattooed at all based on Ibn Fadlan and other sources?
Ruben argues that tattooing did occur but was probably rare and likely not universal among Vikings; Obban and Ruben discuss how some sources may describe non-Scandinavian groups, and that interpretation requires nuance.
Ep 305 - Sowulo with Faber Horbach
Q: What made you choose Anglo-Saxon as the language for your spiritual and magical work?
Faber explains that Anglo-Saxon offered a linguistic depth and a historical connection to his ancestry that modern languages could not provide, and he collaborates with linguists and a Leiden professor to ensure accurate grammar and pronunciation while keeping it emotionally authentic.
