  • Normally a great show

This is normally an absolutely great show. There has been the occasional “controversial” episode now and then, and that’s fine. Episode 279 is the episode that has caused me to speak up, and probably stop listening. In this episode you are propagating the mental illness that is “trans”. Propping up their delusions and propagating this so called professor’s existence. I cannot listen to this actual insanity anymore.

  • This episode is OK, but is mostly tangent rather than subject.

Also to answer a question on the episode, they probably used nails to make Naglfar as there was an idea that finger and toe nails kept growing after death, so it would have been the only thing they really had to use down there.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep 317 - Viking Templars with Pål Berg Svenungsen
Q: What was the outcome at Jerusalem, and what happened to the Crusaders afterward?
Jerusalem was captured in 1099 after prolonged sieges and internal leadership struggles; many crusaders returned home as heroes, while some stayed to establish a Christian kingdom, with ongoing political and religious complexities afterwards.
Ep 317 - Viking Templars with Pål Berg Svenungsen
Q: How did Peter the Hermit influence the initial wave of crusaders?
Peter the Hermit, a popular preacher, galvanized thousands, especially the poor and sick, forming a mass movement that preceded the more organized noble contingents and helped spark participation in the Crusade.
Ep 317 - Viking Templars with Pål Berg Svenungsen
Q: Why were kings largely absent from the First Crusade, and who led it instead?
Kings generally stayed away due to conflicts with the papacy and broader European politics; leadership came from a coalition of French counts and dukes, with no single king directing the effort.
Ep 317 - Viking Templars with Pål Berg Svenungsen
Q: What exactly were the Crusades, and why did they begin according to the guest?
They were penitential wars proclaimed by the papacy, aimed at Jerusalem but driven by papal political aims and a desire to direct violence outward from Europe, with an emphasis on religious legitimacy and personal salvation for participants.
Ep 314 - The Volga Bulgars with Thorir Jonsson Hrundal
Q: Did the Islamic sources distinguish between Rus and Scandinavian Vikings, and how is the term Roos used?
Arabic sources often refer to Rus as Roos or Ruz; terms were used ambiguously and could reflect regional reinterpretations rather than precise ethnic labels.
