  • Grateful!!!

I was diagnosed four years ago and I have already learned so much about narcolepsy that I can’t believe I was never told about. It’s very comforting and supportive to hear about others’ stories and it’s uplifting rather than depressing. So grateful that I found this and for the people who have worked hard to make it happen. I really recommend this podcast if you or a loved one has narcolepsy!

Q: If you could press a red button and completely get rid of narcolepsy and cataplexy from your life, would you do it and why?
I really like my life right now. It took me a while to have the strength to be able to talk about it and share it. I'm not sure if I would just push a button and take it away.
S3E1 Sarah: Owning Narcolepsy - The Power of Laughing Back
Q: How did you feel when you were diagnosed?
Honestly, I was relieved, and that is because there are some other symptoms there, because I was seeing and hearing things that weren't there.
S3E2 Cooking, Collapsing, and Cristina’s Cataplexy Life
Q: Cristina, if you could press a red button, and by pressing this red button, you get rid of narcolepsy, would you press the button and why?
I don't think I would. I would like to be more awake, yes, but it's part of my identity. I have lived with narcolepsy for over 20 years.
S2E8 Sleeping for Weeks: Imaarl’s Story with KLS

I literally just try and put it out of the back of my mind and not think about it until someone brings it up.
S2E8 Sleeping for Weeks: Imaarl’s Story with KLS
Q: What did your symptoms look like when you first started experiencing them?
The first time I had an episode, I wasn't aware, but it felt like I was just spaced out and needed to sleep for days.
