  • One criticism

A lot of the content you guys link to in the episode notes is already a few years old. Many things don’t have updated content in them and that makes them a lot less helpful.

  • A wonderful resource on adhd and also just life

I’m not sure how I came across this podcast but it’s been so helpful to me. The episodes on adhd and burnout recovery in particular were really insightful and gave me a lot of leads to follow. I’ve only listened to a few episodes so far but I love how each episode is informative without being stuffy. It’s fun to listen to - probably my favorite adhd podcast yet!

  • Newly diagnosed, felt embraced

I’m just getting started but I’m so glad I didn’t miss out on this. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

“ADHD and” is awesome but goes too fast for me to keep up. I have to constantly pause and go back 15 seconds to relisten. Given this is for people with slow processing, I would like it to be designed for us to digest. The content is so good it’s worth the frustration.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Why neurodivergent women can’t stop reading smut and romantasy | Sorry, I Missed This
Q: Do you see in your research that neurodivergent women as a whole tend to be consuming more romance, explicit fiction at higher rates?
Erika shares anecdotal observations from patients and notes there is little robust data, but her dissertation included thousands of participants and highlighted a pattern of interest in erotic content among neurodivergent women as an accessible on-ramp to intimacy.
The gene that could change how we treat ADHD | Hyperfocus
Q: Is this developmentally limited, and why does timing seem crucial?
Yes, timing matters a lot. The effects were observed when HOMER1A levels were altered from birth through adolescence; changing the gene in adults did not yield the same results, suggesting neuroplastic changes during development sculpt attention networks.
The gene that could change how we treat ADHD | Hyperfocus
Q: So Zach, what is this genetic mechanism you've pinpointed and how does it relate to attention?
HOMER1A appears to regulate how much information floods the brain by dampening neural noise in the prefrontal cortex, which can make attention more focused by reducing distracting signals, especially when this gene variant is lower from early development.
ADHD, AuDHD, and self-diagnosis: Is it valid? | Sorry, I Missed This
Q: Do you have any final thoughts for people? Do you have any advice?
There is abundant information online about ADHD, but it's important to do homework on creators' background and accuracy, seek trusted voices, and consider a screening call or referral when unsure, in order to make informed decisions about self-diagnosis and pursuing formal assessments.
Can I get rid of my adult sensory issues? | Hyperfocus
Q: Is there a way to get better at adapting to the things that you want, rather than forcing yourself to adapt to the pants?
She discusses tolerance-building through gradual exposure and adjustments to garments to increase comfort, while acknowledging that universal solutions do not exist due to individual differences.
