I really like the content of this episode but wish we could just see the ppt slides on the iPhone. I went to the link to get the slides but that’s a hassle and not easy to follow along with the audio.

  • Poor Audio Quality

What a contradiction— a podcast for people with ADHD but ragged, echo-y and tinny audio - could not listen for more than a few moments.

I cannot comment on content because I could not handle the sound quality.

  • Interesting content but there was so much noise in the foreground (rustling papers or something?) that I had to stop listening.

  • Would love more information about Adults

I listen to this podcast all the time and really value the insights. I do wish there were more episodes focused on adults with ADHD. I was recently diagnosed and am navigating this new experience, so it would be incredibly helpful to learn through this resource.

I also appreciate the focus on younger ADHDers—especially since I have a child with ADHD—but a mix of both adult and youth perspectives would be wonderful.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

606- Autism in Midlife & Beyond: What Research Tells Us Today
Q: Is there evidence of early dementia or other immune-related factors in autism?
Most high-profile dementia studies rely on diagnosed cases; given underdiagnosis in older autistic people, apparent elevated dementia rates may reflect diagnostic gaps and comorbid factors, so modifiable health factors remain critical to manage.
606- Autism in Midlife & Beyond: What Research Tells Us Today
Q: What should autistic adults do to optimize healthcare experiences as they age?
Prepare a focused list of issues to discuss with clinicians, disclose autism to providers, consider sending topics in advance, and seek accommodations or diagnosis when helpful for access to supports and services.
606- Autism in Midlife & Beyond: What Research Tells Us Today
Q: How does menopause interact with autism, and what does that mean for mental health and support?
Menopause is an emerging area of study in autistic individuals; transition can exacerbate preexisting mental health symptoms and persist post-menopause, suggesting a need for continued, integrated mental health support during aging.
605- Early Puberty Among Girls with ADHD and Its Mental Health Implications
Q: Has there been research on correlation between early puberty and early menopause?
There is very little research, but preliminary findings suggest some relation in hormone signaling across the lifespan; there are ongoing trials like hormone replacement therapy research in women with ADHD to understand effects during perimenopause, highlighting a need for more long-term study.
605- Early Puberty Among Girls with ADHD and Its Mental Health Implications
Q: We're seeing increased mood swings and emotional intensity. How, as parents, can we tell the difference between ADHD-related dysregulation and early hormonal changes?
It's hard to separate ADHD-related emotional swings from hormonal changes, but key steps include recognizing that swings are not always problematic, tracking patterns to see triggers or times of day, labeling emotions, and using strategies to reduce arousal when needed before addressing the underlying issue.
