  • No more Dave Clark

Great show, quick hits, easy listen. Love the data oriented delivery that lacks with most media. Please don’t bother brining in experts from Ticket News to talk about “feelings” “perceptions” and “sentiments’l.” Three minutes wasted saying there is no way to know!

  • Redundant

In a 7 to 9 minute production, I get the same ad twice, for each product.

Then I can’t wait for the local business person who is getting screwed by the tariffs story.

The flower shop owner, the tea importer, and now the coffee shop operator interviews consumes another 2-3 minutes. It’s the same story! We all know small business is getting screwed over by tariffs.

Morning Report is becoming an “oh woe is me”environment like Make Me Smart.

I am worried this will exacerbate with bringing Deb... more

  • So Sad

The pprogram has turned more and more opinion over the years and it overshadows the headlines to the detriment of young listeners. Sadly the value is gone and the conclusions harm followers.

  • One of the best!

Great content, delivered concisely & professionally. Keep up the good work, y’all. A gentle reminder to other listeners, there’s a fast forward button to mitigate your frustration with the ads. Super easy & quite effective.

  • Please stop with the Thoughts on the Market Ads!

The reporting content is great once you get to it, but it’s becoming really irksome to have to listen to the same speaking Morgan Stanley’s Thoughts on the Market podcast ad — the speaking voice is incredibly annoying, inconsistent with the strong clear cadence of Marketplace, and most listeners don’t want to have to fast-forward every episode.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

A blockbuster jobs report
Q: And how will the Federal Reserve react to this?
Coronado explains that with the unemployment rate steady but upbeat job gains, the Fed is likely to hold rates steady for now, though nervousness about inflation persists as policymakers weigh labor market strength against price pressures.
A blockbuster jobs report
Q: So what do you make of these numbers? Who's doing all this hiring?
Julia Coronado points to a mix of government hiring and a broader, ongoing strength in leisure and hospitality, suggesting the labor market is improving even as some sectors show uneven gains, and revisions to prior months indicate a trend that could be positive.
A different kind of launch for SpaceX
Q: What does SpaceX's move to go public signal about the broader market for technology and aerospace companies?
It signals a willingness to fund further ambitious projects through public markets, while also testing demand for a highly diversified and vertically integrated space-focused company under a single visionary leader; it could set pricing benchmarks and attract new investor types to aerospace-tech ventures.
The Fed's credibility is a "priceless asset"
Q: So in his speech yesterday, Powell called the Fed's credibility a priceless asset. What does that mean for everyday Americans?
It means that the Fed aims to maintain the purchasing power of money and stabilize the macroeconomy, so people don't have to worry about inflation spikes; the Fed must be independent and data-driven to prevent politics from driving monetary policy.
Younger consumers are stressed — but resilient
Q: Your latest JD Power survey found significant challenges for younger consumers. Can you break down the biggest differences between under-40s and other age groups?
White explains that while a large share of all consumers are financially stretched, the under-40 group faces steeper hurdles in meeting everyday expenses, maintaining liquidity, and building financial buffers due to shorter time in the workforce and slower wealth accumulation.
