  • Great Show

I really like the show and think the journalists are great, but I have a small complaint about being able to hear Nancy Marshall-Ginser’s saliva when she talks. Her voice and reporting are fine and it seems like a silly complaint, but I’ve been a frequent listener for years and find it to be a consistent issue with either the way she talks or the vocal production. It makes listening with headphones so insufferable I find myself skipping her sections at times.

  • Left-wing Editorial…

…. Disguised as a “Economics” show!

NPR, which is “Never-ending Political Rhetoric” has now taken over the last bastion of news on business, markets and the economy!

Taking over Marketplace by insidiously embedding left wing political rhetoric and editorials in their “make me smart” (ironic!) rather than focus on business and the economy! For Gods sake, please stop with this nonsense, stick to markets, leave politics out of it!!!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

What's driving early retirements?
Q: Can you talk more about how investors are viewing tech companies in particular?
Tech is seen with very high expectations; profits in the sector are expected to rise sharply, especially semiconductors, but investors are wary about over-optimism and potential headwinds as markets price in future gains.
What's driving early retirements?
Q: Looking at the past two weeks of earnings reports, what really jumped out to you?
Stovall notes a high bar set for growth with double-digit year-on-year increases expected, with several sectors surpassing those expectations and revisions to 2026 and 2027 forecasts.
A year later, is Trump’s investment in Intel… a win-win?
Q: What is driving Intel's resurgence according to the experts?
A combination of AI-driven demand, a broad manufacturing overhaul, and government support through CHIPS Act incentives that have helped fund capacity expansion and supplier alignment.
How AI nudify apps are proliferating on social media
Q: So you identified that platforms like YouTube and X, Facebook are helping to sort of promote these services. Have any of those companies engaged with your report after publishing it?
Yes. Some of the platforms mentioned, and some not mentioned, have reached out afterwards and asked for URLs or keywords to ensure they can take down the content.
What great wealth transfer?
Q: The number of Americans 65 and older is expected to nearly double by 2060. And a Washington Post report finds many aging Americans are draining the inheritances they had hoped to leave behind. What does this mean for long-term wealth transfer and inequality?
Federica Coco explains that while the wealth transfer narrative suggests large intergenerational wealth movement, actual data show significant erosion of potential inheritances due to rising elder-care costs, meaning the inheritances that do materialize may be concentrated among higher-income groups, potentially widening inequality. The example of Conrad Miles illustrates how even diligent savers can see their plans undone by care costs, underscoring that the transfer may be smaller and less broadly distributed than popularly imagined.
