  • Replaying other talent’s interviews

Reusing the Tim Benz podcast “ Madden Mondays” as a Benz appearance is sad. Benz interviews Mark on this podcast - Tim steers the discussion - its a prerecorded bit - yet most probably dont know this and think it’s a live interview. Mark’s agent is the super genius.

  • Good and bad.

The Good - Madden doesn’t care what anyone thinks about him, which comes in handy when he rips apart Pittsburgh fans who can be a bit dim. He also does a great job at interviewing, and he gets some fantastic guests. He can be hilarious, especially when he’s hanging up on callers who don’t agree with him. He also knows hockey better than anyone in the local sports talk scene, and he’s well connected in the NHL world.

The Bad - He’s old, cranky and arrogant. You can hear the flem in his throa... more

There’s more to people than that? No not with what is happening now. It’s truly time. You hate your job you said nothing about the election with a huge population listening. No there’s not more to people than that. You are like

Lebron . People thought he was going to be a social awareness leader but is too lazy and not very smart. That is sadly what Madden is. I moved to really like this guy until he wouldn’t talk logically when his country needed him to. It’s time for us all to stop listening t... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

HR3 - Kevin Gorman, Freddy Sanchez
Q: G Kev, I guess it would have been nice if the team that had the best offense in baseball had a few guys there, huh?
Gorman notes that while the Pirates were strong offensively, not all deserving players made the All-Star Game, highlighting the nuanced selection process and the value of standout performers.
HR2 - Bob Walk, Sean Casey, Ask Mark Anything
Q: What did the Pirates build by sweeping Milwaukee?
The sweep sent a message that the Pirates can compete for the division if they keep playing strong and potentially get bullpen help to minimize late-game risk.
HR 2 - Mike DeFabo, Ask Mark Anything
Q: How will the defense actually change? What's going to be the most visible upgrade?
Mike DeFabo explains that Patrick Graham will deploy more simulated pressures, seven-man line looks, disguises, and a shift toward zone coverage to balance the defense and maximize the pass rush effectiveness, while constantly refining blitz timing and matchup schemes.
HR3 - Steve Byrne, Last Word
Q: Do you think there's any chance Yurashov or Shilovs could be the number one goalie, or will it be split 50-50 again?
The expectation is a split early in the season, with Morashov taking more of the load as he proves himself, potentially shifting to Morashov as the season progresses.
HR 1 - Bucco Roundup, Tim Benz
Q: Tim, what would you give up for Luke Weaver, and would you include Florentino in the package?
Tim Benz suggests a package could involve a top-prospect like Florentino and other pieces, but cautions against overpaying and emphasizes weighing immediate needs against future potential.
