The Good - Madden doesn’t care what anyone thinks about him, which comes in handy when he rips apart Pittsburgh fans who can be a bit dim. He also does a great job at interviewing, and he gets some fantastic guests. He can be hilarious, especially when he’s hanging up on callers who don’t agree with him. He also knows hockey better than anyone in the local sports talk scene, and he’s well connected in the NHL world.
The Bad - He’s old, cranky and arrogant. You can hear the flem in his throa... more

The show centers on Pittsburgh sports with a sharp, opinionated host and a rotation of hockey-heavy guests and local sports insiders. Episodes frequently dissect Penguins roster decisions, player contracts (notably veterans versus youth), and the broader tension between winning now and rebuilding for the future, all delivered with rapid-fire banter and active listener engagement. A standout is the strong emphasis on hockey analysis from insider guests, paired with cross-sport banter, local market context, and sponsor plugs that anchor the format in live radio energy. This blend likely appeals to dedicated Pittsburgh sports fans who enjoy provocative takes, deep roster discussions, and behind-the-scenes industry angles, especially around Pen... more
