  • Please no more Seth Rorabaugh

I really enjoy Tim’s takes and guests that he has each week. I make it a point to listen to every podcast except when

he has Seth Rorabaugh from the Trib. That guy is a sourpuss and sounds so unenthusiastic every single time that he’s on. He also gives no insightful information or takes on anything at all. He basically just shows up because Tim obviously asks him to and gives the absolute bare minimum, which is painfully obvious from the listener’s perspective. I haven’t heard him on in a whi... more

  • Too many ads

3 min of ads to start the episode? Ouch. Easy to skip over but still deserves criticism. Tim is good so can’t complain about the show itself.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Breakfast With Benz hockey podcast (5/4)--Phil Bourque on 105.9 The X
Q: Should Evgeny Malkin stay, and how should the Penguins handle his future?
The discussion centers on whether Malkin should be kept on a role that maximizes his strengths (likely a top-six, power-play role) or if the team should seek a different balance by bringing in new players; the consensus is that the decision should consider fit, contract implications, and long-term team needs rather than sentiment.
Breakfast With Benz hockey podcast (5/4)--Phil Bourque on 105.9 The X
Q: What went wrong for the Penguins in the series against the Flyers, and is the goaltending situation sustainable?
Bourque notes the Penguins were slow to adapt, faced excessive pressure from the Flyers, and emphasizes that a true number one goalie would ideally handle a heavy workload while the team supports a strong 1A/1B tandem, implying the need for better balance rather than relying on a single dominant starter.
Breakfast With Benz hockey podcast (4/23)--Seth Rorabaugh on the Pens' 0-3 deficit in Philadelphia
Q: What changes do you think the Penguins should consider—tactical or lineup-wise—to try to generate more five-on-five offense?
Seth suggests experimenting with line combinations, especially reuniting Chinikov with Malkin and varying the third line duties, while also acknowledging road matchup realities and the risk of overhauling the roster too aggressively.
Breakfast With Benz hockey podcast (4/23)--Seth Rorabaugh on the Pens' 0-3 deficit in Philadelphia
Q: Okay, Seth, given the officiating last night, what are your thoughts on the penalties and officiating in the series?
Seth argues that the officiating in the playoffs has been inconsistent and too focused on making calls to balance things rather than letting the players decide the game, and he emphasizes the need for more predictable and transparent officiating to avoid steering the series.
Breakfast With Benz podcast (4/24)--Steelers take Arizona State tackle Max Iheanachor
Q: Is it somewhat apocryphal that he shut him down, or is it legit? Was he on him most of the game? What were the nuances to that performance?
From the interview, it's indicated that Iheanachor wasn't flustered and that the execution against Bailey was credible, with multiple reps and solid technique, which raised his stock.
