  • Last of the Killer Bees

You have over time become my favorite Steelers Podcast. Loved that you acknowledged Chris Boswell’s contribution to our last Playoff win, along with his status being the only current Steeler player with claim to that fame.

I used to get upset when the “Killer Bee” status was only attributed to Ben, Brown and Bell.

What about the great Defensive lineman that Cam Heyward replaced?

BRETT KEISEL? He recovered Lamar Woodley’s forced fumble to seal the win in Super Bowl 43.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

What would be the Steelers' QB bailout plan?
Q: What do you think it would cost to bring back Aaron Rodgers? What should the Steelers offer? And do you think that he would accept last year's rate?
The host suggests Rodgers would likely be looking at around $10 million per year in a return, with little negotiating room beyond that; otherwise, it would be odd if he demanded a much larger package. The answer indicates Rodgers would plausibly return to the NFL with Pittsburgh as the most viable option, but overall the price tag remains a major factor in any potential decision.
Mike McCarthy aims to make the Steelers even bigger
Q: DK, I love the Daily Shots. Do you think that this hands-off approach for Mike McCarthy regarding the NFL Draft has anything to do with Aaron Rodgers not signing yet as well?
There's no conspiratorial tone here; the people involved simply want Aaron back, and McCarthy's approach to the draft is about letting coaches contribute while staying aligned with ownership and front office.
And the Steelers' first pick in the NFL Draft will be ...
Q: Chris, can you shed some light on why there's this perception that Keanu Benton isn't a good player, or that he's playing out of position?
Dejan walks through Benton's actual production, arguing Benton isn't a traditional nose tackle but shows versatility and a higher role in run defense, suggesting he isn't miscast so much as under- or over-extended by expectation; the discussion pivots to how coaches assess a player's fit and potential in a new scheme.
Can Aaron Rodgers be told to decide by the NFL Draft?
Q: Today's J1Cube comes from Tyler Miller: what are the biggest philosophical changes we should expect from Mike McCarthy versus Mike Tomlin?
The host responds that while the two coaches differ in leadership style and overall philosophy, the most noticeable changes will come in how the passing game is utilized and schemed, with personnel decisions like defensive coordinators and quarterbacks still shaped by the players available rather than a wholesale change in philosophy.
Seems crazy to ask, but are the Steelers a better team now?
Q: Do you think the Steelers are setting up to draft a quarterback to learn under Aaron Rodgers, or is the BPA approach still the primary guide?
The host suggests that while quarterback development is a consideration, the overarching BPA philosophy remains central, with discussion about the tradeoffs and potential to select a WR in the first round if the opportunity arises; the idea of learning under a veteran QB is acknowledged but not framed as the sole plan.
