  • ditch radio format for podcast

I usually enjoy the show as a way to stay in touch with ME or just to enjoy the topics that aren’t about ME.

My issue with the show is that it’s formatted for the radio. They rush to include as many callers as possible but then cut them off abruptly destroying the chemistry of the call in. The show would be much better as a podcast, which is much more modern and its formatting.

The host is overly eager to re-explain guests, comments. It comes across its very domineering and it’s very difficult ... more

  • Maine Calling is Well Done

Always topics of current interest. Jennifer Rooks has a special gift as moderator keeping the discussion moving and redirecting the discussion when callers and speakers wander off topic.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Strokes
Q: What should caregivers or bystanders look for using the BFAST acronym?
Look for Balance issues, Vision changes, Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulties, and Time to call 911, and act fast to get the patient to the hospital as soon as possible.
Strokes
Q: If someone thinks they are having a stroke, is there a way to tell if they should wait or hurry to the hospital?
There is no time to wait; all signs point to calling 911 immediately so the patient can be triaged and a stroke protocol can begin en route to the hospital; the longer you wait, the higher the risk of disability or death.
Strokes
Q: Before a person suffers a stroke, are there visible signs or physical ones you can recognize to prevent a stroke?
Prevention centers on controlling risk factors through diet, exercise, weight management, blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol; most warning signs are not obvious, but TIAs can precede strokes and should prompt urgent medical assessment.
Pet Names
Q: How much of naming should be considered in choosing a pet's name to ensure it's easy to call in public spaces?
The panel suggests choosing names that are easy to shout, distinct, and not easily confused with common commands; using clear sounds and, if possible, pairing with hand signals can improve recall.
Voters' Voices
Q: What factors are voters prioritizing this year?
Voters cite pocketbook concerns like affordability, taxes, and housing, along with the character and temperament of candidates, and the desire for accountable leadership that can work across party lines.
