  • ditch radio format for podcast

I usually enjoy the show as a way to stay in touch with ME or just to enjoy the topics that aren’t about ME.

My issue with the show is that it’s formatted for the radio. They rush to include as many callers as possible but then cut them off abruptly destroying the chemistry of the call in. The show would be much better as a podcast, which is much more modern and its formatting.

The host is overly eager to re-explain guests, comments. It comes across its very domineering and it’s very difficult ... more

  • Maine Calling is Well Done

Always topics of current interest. Jennifer Rooks has a special gift as moderator keeping the discussion moving and redirecting the discussion when callers and speakers wander off topic.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Food Safety
Q: What is the role of third-party inspections in preventing outbreaks, given past issues with outbreaks like peanut butter?
Third-party inspections can help, but outbreaks can still occur; identifying the source and recalling products promptly remains critical.
Food Safety
Q: How should people decide when to see a doctor for gastroenteritis related to suspected foodborne illness?
If symptoms are severe or prolonged, or if there is an inability to keep fluids down, seeing a medical provider for testing and potential treatment is recommended.
Food Safety
Q: What are the main sources behind the current cyclosporiasis outbreaks, and is lettuce the sole culprit?
Lettuce has been identified for one outbreak, but there is strong evidence that another food source is involved in several illnesses; investigations are ongoing with hopes of recalls as information becomes available.
Maine Politics & Senate Candidates
Q: Given the controversy around some candidates' pasts, how important is vetting in a two-week window before the general election?
Vetting is critical but limited by time; most agreed candidates' pasts will be scrutinized, with established candidates benefiting from previous exposure and more robust vetting compared to newer entrants.
Maine Politics & Senate Candidates
Q: Will the 500 delegates be able to vote freely or are there pressures from party insiders, given the last-minute nature of the process?
Panelists indicate that delegates are largely free to vote as they choose, with many not indicating a firm allegiance on their pledge forms; the dynamic nature of the process means there could be pressure, but not a formal binding requirement.
