    Admittedly I never listened to OnPoint in its former incarnation but I really do like her. I don’t agree with every thing that she says and every guest that she brings on. That’s fine! She’s smart and asks excellent nuanced questions. I don’t think there’s any NPR show that makes me question my beliefs the way OnPoint does.

    This was an excellent examination of the challenges that face America’s Black boys in education. Nevertheless, I think a title for the series that better reflected that focus would be more helpful for prospective listeners. I am a public high school teacher in Los Angeles and I see the obstacles to male achievement every day. However, although my school is both urban and working-class, I have only slightly more Black students than white students. My students are overwhelmingly Latino and Asian. ... more
