  • Thank You!

I found this podcast through the Strong Towns podcast just recently. I am really enjoying the variety in each show as well as the style and delivery of the content. Content of this nature can easily translate into a repetitive/boring show, but this is not at all a boring show! I appreciate the natural banter between Wes and David and feel like they both have a plethora of information, knowledge, and lived experiences to share with us!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

BONUS EPISODE: “Freedom to Drive” + Everyone Deserves Sidewalks (Live from Denver)
Q: How crazy would it be to lower the speed limit to 25 miles per hour on all city streets?
The hosts agree that in urban cores a 25 mph default could be feasible and safe if road design, enforcement, and accompanying measures are aligned, noting that speed is as much a function of infrastructure as posted limits.
Episode 11: Cities Pushing Back on Waymo + Our Most Memorable Road Trips
Q: What do you think about managed lanes?
Managed lanes might alleviate some criticisms against highway expansion, but whether they effectively move more people or should be replaced by bus lanes is debated. Ultimately, opinions on managed lanes vary, and there's no consensus yet.
Episode 11: Cities Pushing Back on Waymo + Our Most Memorable Road Trips
Q: How do motorcycles fit into the broader conversation about sustainable transportation, street design, and mode shift?
Motorcycles take up less space but are particularly dangerous, with data showing remarkably higher fatality rates compared to cars. The noise pollution and the potential health risks associated with motorcycles also make them less favorable in sustainable transportation discussions. Overall, they shouldn't be encouraged in city plans.
Episode 14: The Great Autonomous Vehicle Debate + David Under Fire
Q: What do you think about the response to your articles regarding autonomous vehicles?
The feedback has been varied, with some defending my position and others criticizing it, indicating the complexity of the AV topic.
Episode 14: The Great Autonomous Vehicle Debate + David Under Fire
Q: What was the best thing you saw at the TRB conference?
The most interesting was a session on New York City congestion pricing, revealing that the bulk of time savings were benefiting those outside of Manhattan.
