Q: Hello, Andrew. Hartford Democratic State Senator Doug McCrory is in the middle of a federal probe right now. So how did you get a hold of so much of the internal records from the Blue Hills Civic Association?
We obtained access through records turned over to state auditors and then provided to the FBI, which allowed us to view internal records via the Freedom of Information Act, enabling us to tell the inside story of what happened at Blue Hills.
CT doctors now sue patients more than hospitals over medical bills
Q: Hi Noeam, quite a bit of analysis went into this story. So how did you go about doing the story?
We relied on six years of court data in Connecticut, combined with state-recorded tags for medical debt cases, and collaboration with the Connecticut Bureau to assemble a complete picture of both hospitals and non-hospital providers in debt collection.
