I really loved getting to know Donna through this podcast, as well as her family. This helped me understand so much more about the experience of accompanying someone through their life with dementia and in old age in general, as well as that long grief that begins when the signs first arrive. I will remember the stories told here for a long time.
I, too, am losing a mom to Alzheimers. Listening to this podcast made me realize that sharing our stories is probably our best form of healing and therapy. Hearing of the similar challenges on this path makes my journey seem a little lighter now. And reminding us we can still remember to laugh, makes this podcast a gem.
So well done and such a good understanding (and depiction) of who people are. Even though I’ve never experienced a situation like this, I greatly appreciated the deep and honest insight to what it is like. I can only imagine that that is extremely powerful for someone who is, in fact, going through this and finally feels understood.
This podcast is funny and sad, but above all, heartwarming. They paint such a beautiful picture of their fabulous mom, Donna, that I feel like I knew her and even find myself mourning her loss. The expression, “Let’s not be kidding” is perfect and I can’t wait to find a situation in which to use it!
This is the single most important podcast I have ever listened to. I don’t have a family history with Alzheimer’s but Donna’s story is a must listen for every one of us because it’s essentially a story about losing a loved one, and we will all experience that degree of loss over and over.
