Fabulous conversation. I completely agree with Bob that we need a spiritual component to heal from trauma. I also believe that IFS and it’s understanding of Self energy is helping people remember that they are a spiritual being as well as a human being. IFS has helped to normalize that as well as the multiplicity of the mind.
As a therapist new to the internal family system approach, I’m greatly enjoying this fresh perspective from two thoughtful and generous professionals. Thank you for your efforts in bringing this much needed information forward in such a professional and engaging manner. I hope the podcast success!
How can IFS be a radical shift in paradigm when the foundation of psychology is Freud who had a model of the multiple self? Psychoanalysis might be in exile but a more accurate formulation would be this is a return of the repressed.
