  • Not afraid to explore

These guys are far more open minded, down to earth and friendly than most LCMS in the online space. They are a good model to follow

  • Not Afraid

Tim and Jack aren’t afraid to ask the tough questions or tackle the elephant in the room. Conversation like these need to be the norm and not the outlier. In the LCMS, there are a lot of thoughts, ideas, and issues that don’t get fully explored for myriad reasons. The hosts make their best efforts to do them in the most Godly way they can. This podcast is a treasure and not an echo chamber. Keep up the good work, men!

  • Missional is Confessional

Thank you for reaching out to confront some of these issues. We need to bring some things kicking and screaming into the light. It is time for the beautiful message of the gospel to go forward into the world unhindered.

  • A good place for important conversations

Good people doing their best to host meaningful and important conversations about the Christian life and Lutheran theology.

For those who want to poke holes in the pod or their hosts, it is very clear they will specifically invite people who disagree with them to not only talk to them, but have entire episodes with them! Even if you disagree with them (as I do sometimes) they are rightfully demonstrating Christian leadership in this way, and it is to be admired. FWIW I am often described as ... more

The Pharisee Living Inside Every Lutheran
Q: What word would you bring to pastors and churches looking to care for one another?
The prodigal story teaches that pastors should emphasize the Father's welcoming grace, the restoration of identity as sons, and the joy of salvation shared openly within the community.
The LCMS Bylaw Change Most Lutherans Aren’t Watching
Q: Why is the legal and governance clarity so important?
Because delegates may vote on complex, dense language without full understanding, leading to governance decisions that could centralize control, affect assets, and create legal exposure for the Synod and its ministries.
The LCMS Bylaw Change Most Lutherans Aren’t Watching
Q: Tell us what overture 9-06 is trying to accomplish and what changes it would bring to Bylaw 1.5.
The overture attempts to add two new categories of agencies and to rewrite significant portions of Bylaw 1.5, expanding oversight and defining new instrumental entities, which could broaden governance but also create confusion and potential liability for many ministries.
The Future of the LCMS (From a Presidential Nominee Dr. Joel Biermann)
Q: So tell a little bit of your story, Joel. How did you come into the LCMS?
Biermann describes growing up in a Lutheran family with a strong parish background, pursuing ministry because of encouragement from parishioners and mentors, and ultimately moving into academia to teach at a high level, driven by a desire to prepare future pastors.
First Article Gifts: A Leadership Framework for the LCMS
Q: What are First Article Gifts and why do they matter for church leadership?
They are about stewarding the gifts given by God (architecture, accounting, planning, etc.) ministerially to support the church's mission, not to replace or overshadow the Gospel; leadership can benefit from applying thoughtful, strategic use of resources while remaining faithful to scriptural truth.
