Listening to this, I keep asking, "Where is the government in all this?" I’m sorry, but all the victims in this case should have been compensated by the government and/or all those organisations who were responsible for overseeing Barry’s business. Government’s are happy to bail out large companies who have screwed up but not individuals like this who did as we are always told: save for your future. Journalist over exaggerates the intelligence of the victims and the protagonist. Spends way too long talking to the naive victims as they massively over exaggerate their levels of investment. Just in case of a settlement. Runs Lloyds Bank investment ads during the show promoting investment plans along with any other turgid product ad the producers can make money out of. Makes Barry look rather appealing. Dull and formulaic.

Sarah’s podcast tells the story of a real criminal who impacted so many good people by stealing their savings. It is entertaining and sad at the same time, full of great explanations and well researched. It is a story that is good to have been told and exposed, well done. She incorporates some great interviews from some kind Kiwis who were so duped by this conman. Unfortunately it makes you think more about being careful and trusting of humans.
