Dr Decaro’s podcast does a great job at dispelling the lies popular media that popular media has portrayed of Brown: he does an excellent job of showing Brown was a Christian reformer, not a right winger or liberal and pushes back against the racist narrative, John Brown was insane and needlessly violent.
Like many people, my understanding of John Brown and the years leading up to the US Civil War was reduced to a single paragraph in a HS textbook. This podcast is a great resource. Thank you.
Statues should rise within every city and lessons taught in our children’s classroom’s. This podcast highlights the many reason’s why Brown and his men should be revered as our greatest American’s. Brown sacrificed his and his families lives so that future generation’s could live as free as others. Without Brown, we would be 30-40 years behind in efforts for equality.
Thank you for honoring him so well!

My years of interest and passion for American history and my graduate studies in US history at Rutger... more
