「阿波鳴門」順禮場の段は、明和５年（1768年）に上演された、近松半二作「傾城阿波の鳴門」全10段の８段めを新内に移したものです。阿波藩の藩主玉木家の宝刀「国次」が何者かに盗まれてしまい、その刀を取り戻すために、十郎兵衛は銀十郎と名前を変え、妻お弓と盗賊として暮らしています。二人には祖母に預けた娘がいますが会うことは叶いません。そこに順礼姿の娘が現れます。名乗れぬ母親の心情を描いたお話です。

「石川五右衛門」新釜煎の段をお届けいたします。このお話しは、元文2年（1737年）に大阪で上演された並木宗輔作の人形浄瑠璃「釜淵雙級巴」を新内に移した物です。石川五右衛門は、安土桃山時代の伝説的な大盗賊で、文禄3年（1594年）京都三条河原で処刑されたといわれており、多くの戯曲や小説などの題材になっています。
