  • Another Leftist Guitar YouTuber

Made a Trump joke about putting tariffs on orange paint. Is good friends with 60 cycle hum, a leftist tds yt channel. Has Ben Coombs as a moderator. A online troll and Canadian who constantly comments anti Trump propaganda. Ok, fine that’s your views Phil. But after finding this out, I refuse to watch and support you. Would be nice to keep politics off of guitar channels and if unavoidable get some republican guitar channels to even the field.

For years Phil has been a great driving companion while on the road and a favorite You Tube channel when I’ve been lucky enough to have time to watch!

  • Very informative

I’ve listened to every episode of KYG and appreciate Phil passing along his knowledge, expertise and opinions. His YouTube channels are helpful as well and given me the confidence to fix and/or mod some guitars. Thanks KYG!

The guitar Secret You Can’t Unsee
Q: Why do you prefer Katana-like amps if you own more feature-rich options?
Katana amps are a practical, reliable baseline: light, durable, easy for video demonstrations, and versatile enough to pair with guitars under $400, which is often more useful for guidance to a broad audience.
The guitar Secret You Can’t Unsee
Q: Should you trade in a Katana for a Katana or similar gear at a big retailer?
Trade-ins at big retailers can be convenient but typically offer low values; for maximizing value, sell privately or look for discounted used gear and be prepared for a lower but quicker transaction.
The guitar Secret You Can’t Unsee
Q: What do you think will happen to the value of USA G&L guitars in the future?
Value tends to fluctuate with demand and brand marketing; historically, brands that reduce visibility or stop marketing see price drops, but over time scarcity and collector interest can push values back up, though it's uncertain and depends on broader market sentiment.
The flaw in the tone is in your hands argument
Q: What's your opinion on the PRS SE vs S2 guitars?
The differences in quality aren't as pronounced as some might think, and if the SE has what you want, you may not need to upgrade to the S2.
The flaw in the tone is in your hands argument
Q: Is it dumb to buy locking tuners for a $150 Harley Benton?
While locking tuners won't dramatically improve tuning stability, having a good tuner upgrade can enhance overall performance and playability.
