  • How did PRO-PAIN miss the best band name list?

I hated this show until I listened to the variety of content. Now, I’m here to give high praise. Loved the Professor Bo history lesson. I need one of those quarterly. The variety of content keeps this show entertaining and engaging. Collin should have just been a comedian.

Finally, PRO-PAIN is the best metal/hardcore band name.

Q: Where do you draw inspiration from for your harmonies and dual-lead guitar arrangements?
Influences range from Beach Boys and The Beatles to Helmet and late-90s metal/rock hybrids; the band consciously crafts harmonies and dual leads to create a richer vocal and guitar texture, evolving with each album.
Nick Hexum: 311, Opening for Fugazi, Bad Brains Influence & Selling 10+ Million Albums
Q: Can you describe the experience of touring and handling a major production shift, such as working with producers like Ron St. Jermaine and Bob Rock?
Ron St. Jermaine brought a live-energy philosophy and studio tricks that captured the band's energy in the room, while Bob Rock offered a broader production toolkit and organizational clarity, making the studio a collaborative, almost band-member-like experience.
Nick Hexum: 311, Opening for Fugazi, Bad Brains Influence & Selling 10+ Million Albums
Q: What was the impact of Down and the MTV buzz clip on your career trajectory?
Down became a catalyst that accelerated nationwide recognition; it validated a live-first approach and helped the band pivot toward performing as a primary driver of growth, with radio and video supporting the live momentum.
Nick Hexum: 311, Opening for Fugazi, Bad Brains Influence & Selling 10+ Million Albums
Q: How did the band's early name come about and what does it signify for you today?
Tim and Chad's earlier band inspired the name Fish Hippos; the shift to 311 came from a mutual friend's experience and the appeal of a numeric, enigmatic identity that wasn't tied to a literal phrase—an approach that helped the band build a distinct brand around their sound.
Jeremy Bolm: Touché Amoré, Grief, Growth, & 10 Years of STAGE FOUR
Q: How did Stage Four come to be about grief for your mother?
Bolm explains that writing Stage Four was a cathartic process, using the personally painful subject of his mother's illness and passing as a conduit for emotional honesty, which ultimately resonated deeply with listeners.
