  • Fresh direction for a climbing podcast

Wasn’t sure Jesse could bring something new to the table with so many climbing podcasts out, but I was so wrong. I love his attempt to bring subject matter experts that are also climbers on to discuss what we definitively know and don’t know about what research is telling us, and at the same time brings a pragmatic perspective about what people should be taking away. Just thoughtful discussion that never loses itself in the weeds. Keep it up!

  • High quality climbing content

A welcome addition and compliment to the other climbing pods out there, Jesse cuts through the noise (and gloss), and delivers content that’s endearingly unpolished in production, yet very honed in product. Add this one to your lineup, it’s sure to provide many hours of insights and inspo.

The Guide to the Good Life by William Irvine is a great starting point to understand Stoic philosophy and how it applies practically.
#19 - September 2025 AMA
Q: Can you emphasize the importance of brushing holds indoors and outdoors?
Brushing holds increases friction and gives a higher chance of sending. It's important to care for the rock as it's a limited resource.
#19 - September 2025 AMA
Q: How would you describe the differences, if any, of your visualization process on a flash attempt versus a red point?
On red point goes, I'm recreating what it feels like to be in each position and execute the moves. On flash goes, I'm mainly just imagining the sequence.
#2 - February 2025 AMA - Values, energy systems, video beta, RPE, self-talk
Q: How can we make use of the concept of MRV as climbers since the sport is so complex?
MRV is generally useful for elite athletes, while Minimum Effective Dose (MED) is more important for the general climber.
