  • Way too much over hype, advertising and click bait

The podcast has some good content but really find this overshadowed by the excessive advertising, over hype of products, protocols and guests, and its click bait titles. For me the way the show is delivered focusses far too much on the new shining thing rather than the fundamentals of what it is to struggle, improve and enjoy a lifetime of climbing, and personally find this contributes to the podcast portraying some of the toxic elements of climbing media.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Weekend Warrior: From Midwest to V11, Managing Send Anxiety, and Her Breakthrough "5.12 Pact"
Q: How are you today?
Hannah replies that she's doing well and excited about the conversation, highlighting how she's balancing climbing with a demanding role at the AAC and continuing to push her own limits.
Eric Hörst: How to Build Limitless Endurance
Q: If I've got six months to get into Madness Cave fitness, what should I be doing beyond two rope days a week?
Beyond rope days, the focus is on a balanced mix of aerobic endurance, anaerobic endurance, and max strength workouts, with prescribed sessions such as 2 base aerobic days, 1 anaerobic lactic day, and 1 max strength day, plus optional addition of running, kilter board, hangboarding, and occasional bouldering, tailored to maintain high-end strength while building endurance.
Eric Hörst: How to Build Limitless Endurance
Q: Can you talk about the programming then?
The plan starts with an off-season structure: four climbing days per week, including one heavy anaerobic day, one max strength day, and two aerobic/base endurance days, with the volume and emphasis shifting as you approach the fall performance season; occasional running is suggested to boost heart health and aerobic base, and running is kept as a rest-day or light activity unless specifically included for conditioning.
Weekend Warrior: Iconic FA's, Quitting Climbing, and Coming Back as Strong as Ever in his 50's
Q: How did you get back into climbing in your mid-40s after a long break for family and work?
He rebuilt his base by returning to structured training, emphasizing power and endurance through moonboard sessions and targeted conditioning, while gradually integrating outdoor climbing to rebuild strength and confidence.
Old School Gyms vs Mega Gyms, Which Is Better for Climbers?
Q: Andrew, do you recall the first climbing gym that you went to?
Andrew Bisharat recalls Go Vertical in Stamford, Connecticut, and explains the early sense of community, influential people he met there, and how that gym helped shape his climbing path.
