  • Good source of info and discussion

Living in ultra liberal Massachusetts, it can be hard to discuss this topic with many people. I have been a Democrat my whole life and am so disheartened by my party’s position on youth transition, women’s sports and women’s prison.

    I really appreciate these discussions!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Hearing and Dr Ken Zucker on CBT
Q: Can you explain what CBT entails in the context of gender dysphoria and what therapists and patients actually do in a CBT-based approach?
CBT in this context is discussed as a framework to explore how thoughts and feelings about gender dysphoria influence behaviors, with an emphasis on evaluating co-occurring mental health issues and considering whether gender dysphoria persists independently of broader emotional or social factors, rather than defaulting to a gender-affirming path. The discussion also notes that CBT is one of several approaches and that its relevance depends on individual presentation and development stage.
Blue State Battlegrounds- Maine and California
Q: How do the guests view the role of branding and messaging in this movement?
Leyland emphasizes sticking to indisputable facts and civil rights framing, while noting the need to avoid ad hominem attacks; Marie emphasizes pragmatic governance and broad concerns like public safety and education, suggesting messaging should focus on tangible outcomes rather than partisan labels.
Blue State Battlegrounds- Maine and California
Q: What does winning look like in November for the Maine ballot initiative?
Leyland expresses confidence that the measure will pass, aiming for over 50% support, with success defined as the policy becoming law and as a broader shift toward de-stigmatizing critical conversations about children, family, and sex-based civil rights.
Gay Bedfellows
Q: Do you think there was an intentional effort to escalate or accelerate certain changes within the movement?
The guests acknowledge the complexity of the timeline, noting that what began as civil rights advocacy gradually intersected with cultural narratives and political strategies, while also acknowledging the elements of postmodern thinking that some participants find problematic.
Gay Bedfellows
Q: What did you learn about the role of queer theory in shaping public policy and schooling?
Kawaller and the hosts discuss how queer theory influenced national standards and school curricula, and how those theoretical ideas migrated into public life via organizations like GLAAD and GLSEN, sometimes outpacing broader public understanding.
