  • Nobody cares about MOOSE

The banter section where they talk about Katie's dog and wife is excruciating, boring and self-indulgant. Everything else is gold. Please focus hard on what works.

  • It’s OK to laugh again

Acerbic, unapologetic, and a little bit salty. Remember when we were allowed to be normal and laugh at things we thought were funny? Well, this podcast lets you laugh again and maybe think a little, too!

  • Was a favorite, then not, now reconsidering

A looong time ago, this was one of my top 10. Loved how they covered internet nonsense. Then it went to a paywall and many programs that were left seemed to be about trans issues. That was probably a coincidence but w the paywall, I felt I was getting crummy left overs. Btw, I have no problem w trans programs, just not my interest.

Well, I stumbled on the show on net neutrality. I was ready to doze off, but it was awesome. Good details, balanced and with unexpectedly broad impact. Unfortunate... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 306: Counting Jews (with David Baddiel)
Q: The title nicely sums up the argument of the book. Can you expand on what Jews Don't Count means in today's discourse?
The phenomenon describes how Jews are often treated as a group with power and privilege, which means their experiences of antisemitism can be downplayed or misunderstood, and that leads to a misalignment in how society addresses antisemitism versus other forms of discrimination.
Episode 304: Pomona College And The $300 Zine That Nearly Destroyed A Department (with Emma Pettit)
Q: What is Pomona College like, and who is the main figure in this story?
Pomona is a private, well-resourced liberal arts college in Southern California, with the central figure being Aaron Coonan, a literature professor who becomes department chair and whose leadership style sets off a cascade of governance clashes and funding disputes.
Live with Katie Herzog & Ben Ryan
Q: What is the status of youth gender medicine at this point?
Youth gender medicine has faced severe pushback and policy changes during the Trump administration, including executive orders that limit treatments for minors.
Episode 279: How To Drink Your Way Sober
Q: What was the hurdle you had to climb just to be like, I'm going to put, because you put a lot of embarrassing shit in there?
The desire to tell a good story was stronger than my instinct for self-preservation.
Episode 277: Internet Poisoning (with Katherine Dee)
Q: How are you planning to raise your child in the digital age?
Katherine reveals her concerns about screen time and the balance she wants to strike with her child's internet usage.
