  • Great way to get news on the team.

Good reporting, straightforward news with good banter between the pundits. The best journalistic outfit covering NYCFC.

  • Very informative podcast from the most authoritative independent news site covering the team

As NYCFC, and MLS, gradually become global brands it’s important there are podcasts that cover the team in detail for those of us outside the US. Other NYCFC podcasts do a great job of speaking as fans to the fans. But this new pod from Hudson River Blue is close enough to the team to be informed but removed enough to fill the gap in Big Apple professional soccer coverage left by the old-school news organisations. Thoroughly recommended.

Brooklyn FC's Taimu Okiyoshi on his journey from Japan to college soccer to the pros
Q: What are your goals for short term and long term with Brooklyn and your career overall?
Short term: help the team win as many games as possible and earn more minutes; long term: reach MLS, continue developing with consecutive strong seasons, while recognizing each day's work contributes to that goal.

Q: Do you think changing the college schedule to two semesters will be good for players and help reduce the load, given the current fall-heavy schedule?
Yes, I think spreading the competition over two semesters could help players maintain form and reduce burnout, allowing for longer periods of competition and better preparation, though it will require adjustment to training cycles and calendar planning.

Q: So I guess, can you talk us through just that whole experience, making the decision to leave home and come here to the United States and sort of how you've dealt with that process and the ups and downs that probably went along with all that?
I decided to leave Japan because I always wanted to experience life outside and pursue soccer in a system where college soccer was part of the path; I explored options in Australia but the system there wasn't a good fit for me, so I connected with an agent to find opportunities in the U.S. and ultimately chose the United States for college soccer as the best pathway to develop and reach higher levels.
Ronny Deila joins us ahead of his Yankee Stadium return
Q: What have been some of the differences you've noticed between NYCFC and Atlanta United in terms of players, setups, and culture?
He noted the clubs are similar in infrastructure and quality but highlighted the different context of MLS competition, including roster management and the impact of the league's playoff system on strategy and spending.
Ronny Deila joins us ahead of his Yankee Stadium return
Q: So big return to New York City for the first time since you left in 2022, coming up on Thursday. I wanted to ask just what your emotions are going into this game.
Deila said the return is positive and personal, emphasizing good memories from his time in New York and the plan to compete and win, while noting the emotional mix of coming back to a former club.
