  • Slice is a terrible and sketchy company

Slice and all their affiliations including this podcast should not be supported. They don’t help small businesses and actually hurt them by being a 3rd party payer system. They also give out people’s (who use their service to order through a local company) information including address and phone numbers out to strangers with no verification so customers are able to be harassed by scammers. Slice provides no accountability of these sketchy practices.

  • Love hearing it from the owners who lived it.

It’s really inspiring hearing about hakki’s homelessness and his struggles, and from Johnny pavlik who is in recovery, and working on staying that way. His issues and struggles are the everyday mom and pop struggles. He has become super successful and more podcasts highlighting techniques and implementable systems from the operator standpoint really would be super helpful

Q: What's the biggest surprise in running two locations far apart?
The biggest surprise is how quickly leadership and culture need to be established in both places, and how you must empower local teams to run things with minimal handholding while maintaining brand standards.

Q: How did you decide to expand to Kentucky and partner with someone there?
The move was framed by exploring cheaper markets with potential for growth and leveraging a trusted friend as a partner to manage the Kentucky operation while keeping the New York flagship strong.
Old School vs New Rules: Inside Mozzarella di Bufala’s Kitchen
Q: What kind of pizza do you make, and what makes it unique?

This One Tool That Saved This Pizza Shop's Friday Nights (And Boosted Sales!)
Q: But how does the Slice phone integration actually work for a shop that wants them to answer calls?
Ace explains that after an hour-long interview, Slice assigns a dedicated phone team that answers as Nonna's Pizza, with a transfer system so customers can still reach Ace if needed, and the team is trained on the menu and upselling techniques.
