It's been... way too long, we know! But we missed just simply talking about horror movies, so we decided to come back and try this again, a bit more casually. In this episode, we're exploring a movie that both of us really love—Ari Aster's Hereditary... more
Surprise! In between our usual lessons, we're starting a new series called Recess Reviews where we'll be reviewing random horror, and maybe even non-horror releases, whenever we feel like it. This week we reviewed the latest installment in The Conjur... more
We're joined by Amirra Malak, who is an Egyptian American artist, art teacher, and sci-fi fan, to continue our class on Universal Classic Monsters to discuss The Mummy's Hand (1940) and the nuances of Egyptian representation in Western media.
We're joined by Lindsay Traves, writer for Pajiba and co-host of The Pod and the Pendulum, to discuss the Universal Classic Monster film The Wolf Man (1941). This is a little bit longer episode than usual due to some casual chitchat we have about Saw... more

This show is awesome. Definitely give it a listen :)
I heard Reyna guest host on Pod and the Pendulum, and as a courtesy to all of Mike and Lindsay’s guests, I’d said guest has a podcast, I give it a listen.
Looking thru the back catalogue, I saw a 2-parter on one of my favorite series, Saw, and had to listen immediately.
As a horror veteran, I think it’s easy to forget the joy and confusion of experiencing so many of these movies for the first time. Reyna does such a great job of breaking down movies and Kaila provides the insights that only someone with a fresh perspective can. This has become a highlight of my week and I can’t wait for each new episode.
Reyna and Kaila (and their special guests) offer the perfect intro to different horror subgenres. Their insights and banter make this a fun podcast- even the episodes that cover movies I’ve seen dozens of times.
As a horror novice, it’s really fun to listen to this and learn along with Rayna! This is such a creative concept for a podcast, and I can’t wait to continue listening.
