  • Joyful, Fun and Smart

HHT leaves me smiling from ear-to-ear every time I listen. Matt and Tim have an incredible connection that brings such joy and fun to the podcast. It’s a breath of fresh air…you can see their hustle and commitment in every single episode. What a treat for horror fans to straddle movie reviews with interviews of both modern artists and people from 80s slashers. I can’t recommend listening to HHT enough!!!

  • Enthusiastic but chaotic

I really want to like this podcast more but the hosts continuously talk over each other and finish each other’s sentences and it’s all just a bit frustrating. I like how enthusiastic both hosts are about the subject matter, but it would make for easier, less manic listening if they were just a bit more restrained in terms of letting each other finish their thoughts.

  • Tim is annoying

Like the show. Wish Tim would stop interrupting constantly. Matt is the true star here.

  • Unhappy Times

ANOTHER horror movie podcast in which the hosts simply relate the entire plot of the main film being discussed. Is there any end to these? I don’t think so. The hosts are fun, but the approach to “reviewing” each movie is generally disappointing.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep 299: Interview w/Kevin Williamson, Director & Co-Writer of “Scream 7”
Q: Where does Scream 7 fit in the franchise's legacy—new beginning or continuation of the Requel era?
Williamson expresses a view that the franchise should explore many faces and sizes, allowing each installment to feel fresh while nodding to its history, with this film leaning toward a small-town, character-driven approach that still honors the core survivors and motifs.
Ep 298: Interview w/Lawrence Monoson from “Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter”
Q: What was it like working with Crispin Glover on Friday the 13th Part IV?
Crispin was incredibly creative and brought a unique, authentic vibe to the film; we would improvise off-camera ideas that the director would then consider for onscreen integration, which helped build the dynamic between our characters.
Ep 298: Interview w/Lawrence Monoson from “Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter”
Q: Did you know about the broader Friday the 13th franchise before you started filming Part IV?
No, I did not have prior knowledge of the Friday the 13th series; I approached it as a separate project and only later realized its place in a larger franchise.
Ep 298: Interview w/Lawrence Monoson from “Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter”
Q: What was the audition process like for Gary in The Last American Virgin?
The role wasn't Gary at first; Lawrence read for David while Gary was already cast. After reading, the directors and producers, including the leads and executives, asked him to try for Gary, and after a second round with subordinates, they confirmed him for the role, with concerns about age resolved through a quick verification process.
Ep 285: Interview w/Kari Keegan from “Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday”
Q: Did you happen to recognize her from Kate and Ali?
Kari recognized Alison Smith from her role as Annie in the Broadway production before her work in Jason Goes to Hell.
