  • Walking with this

I’ve listened to this podcast often on my many walks that keep me upright and moving with my grief. I’m thankful for you and your guests who poignantly share their own and your own walk with grief. It has made my own lonely walk not feel so lonely. It has helped me process and see varying perspectives. It helps both the joy and heartbreak of grief be normalized and seen in a world who’d rather just cast it all aside. The varying types of grief all have given me pause to consider new perspectives... more

  • Thank you Lisa

My therapist recommended this podcast after my father's death and I'm finding it really helpful. Sometimes grief feels like being alone and that the world is going on without you and Lisa talks about a lot of these feelings and just knowing that there are other people out there feeling the same way helps with the loneliness.

  • Wonderful podcast

Lisa is not only a terrific interviewer and compassionate person, she has guests that will change your life as well as your grief journey. My daughter was murdered in 2024 by her estranged and deranged husband, and the episodes of this podcast have helped me navigate through dark times and profound sadness. My bookshelf is certainly more crowded now with the purchases of the books authored by Lisa and her guests. Can’t recommend this podcast enough!!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Angela Schellenberg | Attachment, Trauma, and Grief
Q: What role do attachment and somatic therapies play in healing grief and trauma?
The guest outlines how attachment-focused approaches (like secure relationships and EMDR with a supportive container) help reintegrate bodily trauma into conscious processing, reduce emotional charge, and foster internal safety and self-trust.
Angela Schellenberg | Attachment, Trauma, and Grief
Q: How did early losses shape your beliefs about grief and attachment?
Angela explains that early losses wired her to seek safety through attachment needs and that secure nurturing, protection, and guidance are foundational; without them, people develop insecure or disorganized attachment, which profoundly influences how they grieve later.
Sandi Serling | Fear Unzipped
Q: What advice would you give someone who wants to connect with a loved one who has passed?
Be open, loosen the grip on expectations, and invite signs in whatever form they come; talk aloud to the loved one and notice subtle reminders like songs or animals, knowing that energy can be present in many unexpected ways.
Sandi Serling | Fear Unzipped
Q: What role does intuition play in managing grief, and how can listeners begin to access it?
Intuition arrives as a whisper; with patience, journaling, and paying attention to signs in nature and daily life, people can start a relationship with their intuition that helps them navigate grief without ignoring emotion.
Sandi Serling | Fear Unzipped
Q: How did your early experiences with anxiety influence your path toward neuroscience and your work with grief and intuition?
Early sensitivity to others' energies and a high level of anxiety pushed me to study the brain; neuroscience gave me the tools to reframe fear as information and to cultivate intentional practices that support grief, intuition, and presence.
