  • An authentically raw approach to mental health

Paul’s podcast is something we need more of in this world. The objectivity, open-mindedness, and unprejudiced way of structuring it – just “laying out all the chips on the table” for everyone to see is refreshing, nurturing, and joyful (even the hard parts).

  • This show is a genuine companion when times are tough.

A study buddy recommended this show during a class once and I have held onto that recommendation for so long. I never knew how important and relevant it would become.

So many times I have clicked on an episode and just gone for a journey… Guests really open up about their honest experiences and it make me feel less alone in the world… plus Paul is such a likeable fellow who engages in a super genuine way. I really enjoy the depth of conversation and the breath of topics covered.

#806 - Best Of: Being An Outsider - Rama
Q: Give me some of the greatest hits of shit that gets under your skin about Arabs and how you respond?
Rama explains the stereotypes she faces, from being labeled terrorists to assumptions about women's roles, and emphasizes the need to defend her culture while not letting broad generalizations define her experience.
#805 Eating Disorders & Males -Retired Boxer Danny O'Connor
Q: In therapy, were any childhood or adolescence experiences uncovered that shed light on the eating disorder?
He describes a long process of self-assessment and trauma work, including sports psychology, mindfulness, and other therapies, which gradually revealed how predispositions and past experiences contributed to the disorder and the path to recovery.
#805 Eating Disorders & Males -Retired Boxer Danny O'Connor
Q: Two questions, the first one unrelated to an eating disorder, at least in my mind, why not move up a weight class?

Andrea describes a mix of lifelong pain and resilience, emphasizing that healing is a process shaped by therapy, writing, and community support, not a linear path.
