  • Validation seeking and heavily edited.

If you are looking for objective discussion, this is not the podcast you are looking for. The conversations have great information and potential for healthy debate, however the audio is heavily edited when there are disagreeing views. It makes the conversation disingenuous and leaves me wondering what was cut out. The host is looking for validation and confirmation bias and I think that explains the 5 star reviews from other people that are also validated through the host’s perspective.

  • No one’s entire personality is made up of trauma responses

Before the host speaks with authority on complexities of the origins of personality disorders, she should have done more research. And for her to say that one’s entire personality can be made up of trauma responses is so diminutive and such an insult. We are much more than our trauma complex or otherwise. If I were a potential guest of her show, I would be wary of agreeing to partake lest I be treated rudely if she didn’t agree with what I have to say

  • Wild

I was floored by how rude this woman can be towards some of the guests she invites on her show. She invites them just to argue her point and discount theirs. Whyyy?

I am really not understanding the 5 star reviews at all.

  • Great Podcast, Too Many Commercials

Great podcast but I feel the commercials at the beginning is so obnoxious. I’m 11 minutes in and they’re still going!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

220 - The Trauma You Didn't: Unconscious Wounds & Epigenetics w/ Mark Wolynn
Q: What should a listener do first if they suspect they carry inherited trauma?
Start with inner work to identify and transform their trauma language, engage in safe, life-affirming experiences to create new neural pathways, and use inner imagery or photographs to reframe family narratives. It's about a gradual, ongoing process rather than a quick fix, and involving body-based practices to calm the nervous system.
220 - The Trauma You Didn't: Unconscious Wounds & Epigenetics w/ Mark Wolynn
Q: How does epigenetics fit into everyday healing, not just academic theory?
Epigenetics explains how experiences can physically alter the way genes are expressed, potentially affecting not just the individual but future generations. In practice, this means that positive, life-affirming experiences and somatic work can recalibrate nervous system responses and may shift gene expression over time, reinforcing healthier patterns.
220 - The Trauma You Didn't: Unconscious Wounds & Epigenetics w/ Mark Wolynn
Q: You've mentioned the four unconscious themes. Could you briefly outline what they are and how they emerged from your clinical work?
They include a break in the attachment with the mother, rejection of the parent which can show up as disowning parts of ourselves, transference leading us to attract similar relational patterns, and the internalization where we take on our parents' pain within our own inner life. These themes emerged after thousands of clinical hours observing recurring patterns across clients and correlating them with attachment history and early experiences.
217 - Good Kid, Quiet Wreckage: Relational Shame, the Silent Treatment & The War You Waged on Yourself w/ Maggie Nick
Q: When was the moment that you realized that your childhood screwed you up more than you initially thought?
Maggie explains that it wasn't a single moment but a series of realizations tied to her trauma and her experiences working with children who experienced similar abuses.
Shitshow Saturday #191 - Courtney B.
Q: How did you learn that you were an adult child?
I found a podcast that resonated with me and made me realize I had issues stemming from my childhood that I wasn't fully aware of until I hit my addiction bottom.
