  • So helpful!

I listen to Gear Talk whenever I mow the lawn or drive to/from work. As a Wisconsin native and former student of DeRouchie, I am really grateful for Tom & Jason’s labor of putting content out to help me better understand the Scriptures.

  • The professor and the pastor

I love the depth of this podcast. Literally every session they go mining for nuggets and I am blessed with what they dig up!

What makes this podcast so unique is the interplay between the professor and the pastor.

I realize both Jason and Tom could each wear the titles of professor and pastor, but in this podcast they comfortably sit in the role that seems to be their strongest gift.

And we get the blessings of their interplay.

  • Excellent Resource

I can’t commend this Podcast highly enough. I recently finished listening to the four-part series on Psalms and it is truly pushes me to study God’s word, but more throws fuel on the flame of worship.

The Prophetic Word of Zephaniah For the Church Today
Q: What is the big question, what is Zephaniah all about?
The book opens with the Day of the Lord as punishment portraying that punishment as cataclysm, conquest and sacrifice, but it also emphasizes seeking the Lord together to avoid punishment and waiting for the Lord to enjoy salvation.
The Nature of the Covenant God Made With Abraham
Q: How does the Abrahamic Covenant relate to the individual seed of Abraham and the plural offspring?
The covenant introduces a singular seed, which is Christ, and this singular figure grows into many, showing a shift from a promise to a fulfillment that encompasses both Jews and Gentiles in Christ.
The Nature of the Covenant God Made With Abraham
Q: Why is it important for Christians to understand the Abrahamic Covenant?
The Abrahamic Covenant is foundational to the entire Biblical storyline, serving as the means through which God alters the course of the world to bring blessings and ultimately new creation.
How Did Jesus View the Old Testament?
Q: How does the study of Biblical Theology help us to celebrate Christ?
It helps by ensuring that we do not approach the Old Testament apart from Christ, recognizing that His life serves as a pattern, and He provides the power for our living, ultimately directing our attention to Him.
How Did Jesus View the Old Testament?
Q: What Old Testament passages would you say hint at Christ's resurrection?
Christ's resurrection can be seen in texts like Isaiah 53, which speaks of the Messiah suffering and then seeing light, as well as the story of Jonah, which Jesus Himself referenced.
