Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

SN2: Episode 10: How Kamau Nyabwengi Built a Golf Academy That Has Trained 4,000+ Golfers
Q: Can you tell us a little bit more about the structure of Yen Golf, how it works, how long are the classes?
It is an eight-week program at Windsor with three possible training days per week; it starts with basics (clubs and swing), moves to on-course play, and ends with proficiency and a pathway into an alumni network and regular tournaments.
SN2; Episode 3: Lynn Ngugi | Transitioning From A Well Paying Job To Her Own Law Firm & Businesses
Q: Tell us about the transition from having a well-paying job to starting your own law firm.
Lynn describes resigning after maternity leave and using a period of reflection and faith to launch ANO Advocates LLP, onboard with partners, and actively pursue opportunities to bring in clients, with a strong focus on practical, written agreements and strategic networking.
SN2; Episode 4: Tara Nicole | Turning Creativity Into Income Streams
Q: What is one thing you must do every day for all your businesses?
I check inquiry forms for Rusty Nail, follow up on pending feedback, and post content; I also respond to DMs and comments to stay connected with my audience.
SN2; Episode 4: Tara Nicole | Turning Creativity Into Income Streams
Q: Okay. So we are purely online. So we majorly do online marketing there. Regular, everybody knows this one, sponsoring ads, posting content. How do you get clients for Rusty Nail?
We rely on online marketing, sponsored ads, and especially word of mouth; our strongest channel is client referrals from past events and satisfied customers.
EP 4: More Than a Creator: Murugi on Business, Motherhood & Starting Early
Q: So first of all, walk us through your entrepreneurial journey. What businesses have you done in the past? Like, actually from your first one, because I know there are so many. And which ones do you still own today?
The first real business was making clothes while I was in university; I taught myself to sew, bought a machine with help from my mom, and turned it into a thriving campus enterprise that paid 30-40K per month at its peak. Over the years I tried many ventures—plus-size jeans, an alcohol shop, mpesa shops, a clothing store, and eventually Lip Tribe. Each one taught me different things about margins, inventory, passion versus market needs, and the importance of systems.
