Great Show and I think very relevant in today’s world. My wife and I are definitely part of what you discussed. We are now married for 57 years and have 3 wonderful children, who have all been Bar and Bas Mitzvah. I was the Catholic schooled part of this union. I use the term was as I have converted and never looked back. My only desire is to learn more about Judaism and Hebrew.

The only stumbling block that I would mention is to emphasize the importance of the Jewish side to be inclusive... more

  • My favorite Jewish podcast

I love listening to this podcast! It’s so accessible and smart in a fun way. The people Rabbi Pont interview are well selected and each topic is thoughtful and relevant.

You don’t need any prior knowledge before tuning in. I just finished episode 13 about Hanukkah. I loved listening to the teens discuss their experiences. I am a convert so I experience a strange nostalgia this time of year and I love hearing about Hanukkah experiences and memories of those who were born into their faith.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Arson in Mississippi
Q: So tell everybody who's listening about the history of Beth Israel Congregation and Jewish life in Mississippi.
Robyn explains Beth Israel's long history in Jackson, dating back to the 1860s, its rebuilding efforts after a 1967 bombing related to civil rights advocacy, and the continued presence of a Southern Jewish network supported by local churches and regional organizations.
Trouble Finds Evie Lefkowitz
Q: How did you approach writing about sensitive topics like antisemitism for a middle-grade audience?
I aimed to acknowledge the reality of antisemitism while focusing on constructive responses—communication, education, and coming together as a community.
Dying with Dignity
Q: What are the main safeguards or guardrails around Medical Aid in Dying in New Jersey?
MAID requires a mentally capable adult with six months or less to live, two separate physician prognoses, three requests (two oral, one written) with at least 15 days between oral requests, and witnesses who are not disqualified, ensuring voluntary, informed, and capacity-assessed decisions.
Dying with Dignity
Q: So how do bioethical issues come to light in the hospital, and what triggers a consultation?
Bioethics issues can be raised by anyone involved in patient care, typically initiated by a physician's order or brought by a nurse, family member, or other party; the process involves identifying the dispute, determining who speaks for the patient, and conducting a multidisciplinary interview and possible family meeting to reach a consensus.
Agents of Change in the Negev
Q: Why is the ADI Negev location in the south so critical to its mission?
The south offers the land and space needed for a large-scale village, and it aligns with strategic goals to move populations to the Negev while ensuring comprehensive services like education, healthcare, and employment are available locally.
